The only underground downhill trail in the world is no joke. In total darkness, narrow passages and low ceilings add to the mystery and adventure of the extreme trail.
Olly Wilkins, Vid Peršak and Anej Štrucl ride the underground enduro trail at the abandoned lead and zinc mine in Mežica, Slovenia.
Shortly, we’ll also release a behind-the-scenes clip.
"Caveologists say this old cave is 100 years old and holds 1,000 mysteries. Or is it 1,000 years old and 100 mysteries? Well, that, my friends, is just one of the mysteries."
@colincolin: They don't go back up..they ride out at the end of the trail. Mt.Peca is like swiss cheese, loads of entrances and exits, trail is built to enter the mine high up and exit couple of floors lower. Go give it a try, it is an extra adventure. ????
It is weird to say that i think i have seen more videos with Olly that had me stoked to ride my bike more than Gwin, which is a weird statistics for me because it does not apply to Peaty, Gee and Barel, and i don't think it's personality based, as Hart and Hill makes exciting videos,
I can see where you are coning from, Gwin has this almost programmed machine like aura around him, yes, his skill is to be admired, but, as you say, its not inspirational to want to ride - I think his appeal maybe to racers and those that want to win as they see things on a athlete level, but Olly, and they mad crew he hangs with, are all about just getting out and having a laugh with mates, fun on the bike, and thats a hell of a lot more "real world" than a racer, and thus resonates more with the every day Joe bike rider.
@makdthed: Olly and the others that i mentioned are also fast, Peaty and Barel are winners, but somehow i don't feel like Gwin love or even likes riding bikes, maybe he is more into beating other people, because seeing him post race, he doesn't seem to be happy winning.
@Rubberelli: that video just proved my point, he rode down the trail fast, like a machine even, nothing more I would assume that Blenki or Brendog would show us how fast and fun they could ride that trail.
@Zuman: Gwin also has the best section in 3 Minute Gaps. But saying he does nothing more than Blenki or Brendog is just a backhanded compliment. You might as well say "How disappointing, Gwin is only as entertaining to watch as the two most entertaining riders."
@Rubberelli: Gwin is sick to watch on race day...never know what's gonna happen. He might make you wanna race, but getting people stoked to ride, like @Zuman said, is left to some of the other greats.
@Rubberelli: "You might as well say "How disappointing"," What i mean is, it's weird that Olly makes more video segments that makes me stoke to ride that Gwin, whic i find weird considering how dominant Gwin is as a racer and Olly not being world cup level or even as popular as Gwin. It is my perception that he is not having fun riding bikes when he is not racing and beating other people,
@Zuman: every weekend when there isn't a race, you can find him at the bike park having a hoot and riding with his friends. This past weekend included.
No night riding for me in CA. Saw 2 mtn. lions in the past month here in the Santa Cruz mtns. One was walking down the street ( looking for for dogs and cats ) at 9pm. The other was chilling in a tree about 30 feet behind me when I stopped for a drink.
Damn, that place looks amazing, but what a boring ass video, you dont hire Olly Wilkins and then hide infectious personality behind spooky audio track - I bet the behind the scenes video is 1000 times more entertaining than this - slap this vid on your product page Focus, and release the fun stuff for social media
This is where the MTB will take place after the 3rd world war....
Have these guys seen The Descent?
