Four years ago, Ibis signed a little known privateer named Bex Baraona to her first factory contract. She had just wrapped up a self-funded season, where she finished sixth overall.

We knew then she had the potential to be an EWS champion and this year Bex delivered on that promise by winning her first EWS race! Along the way, she picked up several EWS podiums, two stage wins, became British National Enduro Champion, and inspired riders around the world through Gowaan Gals.

It’s been a wonderful ride and we are thankful for all the laughs along the way.
We wish her the best of luck.

bigquotesJoining my first pro team will always be such a special memory, so firstly a big thank you to Tom, for seeing something in me and giving me the opportunity to ride and race bikes all over the world…I never dreamt I'd be doing this when I was a little smush and literally still pinch myself all the time at what an amazing career it is!

I've learnt so much, enjoyed all the bikes I've ridden with Ibis and had fantastic support with the races, which helped me hit some huge racing goals!! Those being: making an EWS podium & winning an EWS race!

I'm very grateful to all the team sponsors for equipping me with the best stuff out there and always having everything I need to perform. Also, to the team staff and everyone at Ibis, thank you for working so hard and being a huge part of my racing career. Thank you for the past 4 years and see you at the races.

bigquotesWhen we signed Bex in 2018, she was coming off a top ten season as a privateer. She had self-funded her season with a mixture of fundraisers, odd jobs, and true grit. She was her own nutritionist, coach, mechanic, and team manager. We admired her determination, and we were elated to offer a position on our factory team. That first season, she cinched her first podium. Over the next three years, she kept working at her goals with that same determination that initially drew us to her. It was incredible to see her win an EWS in her hometown.

Along the way, we enjoyed her amazing humor (and laugh). We will miss working with Bex but wish the best for her going forward. Gowaaan Girl!

While Bex had a great season by the numbers, I think her value to a sponsor is even higher than the race results and hope that is rewarded.

In Tech we see these "Our Amazing Journey" posts when startups get bought up and swear nothing is going to change, usually 6-18 months before their product gets discontinued.

It feels like these "say goodbye" and "parting ways" posts are written by the same AI.

Sure her success streak isn't over Yet. I hope she'll even top it with the new team.

Loved watching Bex kill it on an Ibis. I'm sad to see her go, Yet I think she's going to do great things wherever she ends up. Gowaan!

Meet Bex outside a pub in The Peaks many years ago with her trusty Transition Covert by her side. Great girl, I've watched her career with interest and I literally was screaming her on like crazy when she got her EWS win. I hope she gets the opportunities she deserves going forwards.

Given the choice between a 10/10 personality, 6/10 riding skill, and a 6/10 personality, 10/10 riding skill, I'd take the first option any day to market my products. Fortunately with Bex you get top notch in both categories.
