love the hardtail edits! I ride a Chromag Stylus and love it. If you haven't been on a hardtail in a while you need to get on one. It forces you to brush up on some of your basic skills where you wouldn't have to on your squishy bike.
@ThomDawson this bike is great I currently ride it its comfortable to send fairly big doubles rag the downhills and still head to the trail centre for a few laps
Awesome!! I have the 2015 el camino essential shimano! After 3 weeks ownership here in Ireland,i can say I have rode it up and down dry riverbeds, big technical climbs, fireroads, wet forests, downhill,I've hit jumps and drops and the bike is 100% even though I had a couple nasty otb crashes! All in all I'd defo recommend they're hardtails.
Trying to decide between one of these or a second hand squishy frame over winter while I save pennies for something a bit newer...anyone wanna tell me what I should do?
If you just want something that will get trashed over the winter go buy a used cheap ass bike. You will have a ton of fun on it either way and will be amazed at how awesome of a rider you are once you get on a bike thats worth a dam. Idk if you guys have craigslist (classifieds) out there in GB, but if so go spend like $500-$700 USD on something that has a suspension fork and 2 wheels and rip the shit out of it!!!
Sorry should have been clearer. Im an experienced rider. Just sold my Mega because I didn't like it, preferred the 2012 one I had before so considering one of those for a while OR this Meta SX HT. I'm picky and no newer bikes are really inspiring me at the mo. Except the new transitions and I'm not paying retail on one of those.
Thanks for the suggestion but Stantons are way too expensive and just don't do it for me. Well made maybe but that's not gonna win it. The commencal has the right numbers and would be a cheaper option than a 2nd hand Mega to last a little while I just don't know if I can go back to a ht without wanting to pull my eyes out. And will it hold up to bigger features? Probably just go with the 2012 Mega, it's a classic, has all the mod cons and, more importantly, suspenshanz.
I really like what commencial is doing, but please get a new or improve your website. There are only four countries available and everytime i access the site it is in french and most people like me who don´t have got English as their mother tongue would really appreciate when you could either make a site in our language or link me directly to the english one. I have got german as my native language and learned english and italian at school, because my country shares a boarder with Italy and not with France i learned Italian as my third language so please accept that not everyone can speak french and make a German version of your site too which also ships to Austria and i´ll happily buy one of your bikes.
I'm loving the commencal hardtails. I fancy the meta version but can't figure out why the sx has a smaller front fork (140mm). Thought the sx would have been more hardcore. I guess it will be the meta for me.
The absolut SX is the slopestyle model 140mm travel, the Meta 4X is a 100mm travel beauty.... so to complete the series we'll have the Meta SX- like a hardcore Meta 4x with 120mm travel? No, it's bright pink hardtail. WTF?
Think they have HT AM (650b) in fluoro yellow with black OR black with yellow. HT SX (26") is pink with black OR black with pink. But no yellow 26 unfortunately.
If I could just make up my mind I'll get around to some of that :-)

In a short term, the frame only won't be available in the US but you can order it from Europe, we can ship to the US : www.commencal-store.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=14499073
