Rachel Atherton didn't just win today, she crushed it. 9.36 seconds up. On this track, that's an eternity.

Nicole looked positively awesome on track in practice. Did she have the power to take it down to the wire with Rachel. It's a big ask... maybe we'll have to wait until Val di Sol to speculate further.

The crowds were slow to build as the pro men headed up the lift, but by the time things got cracking there was a rowdy bunch of fans lining the track.
George Brannigan was gutted to crash on his race run, but unfortunately it happened again. Three more times.

Danny Hart is one of those any track, any conditions kind of guys, but this time he just couldn't get the dry and dusty American beast on lock.
Markus Pekol couldn't quite match his quali rank of 9th, but still had a super strong ride today, finishing 13th after severely damaging his pedal in the top section.
Sam Blenkinsop kept it fast and loose throughout the week and on Saturday, but a few bobbles cost him a few precious seconds. Sam was only three and a half seconds off of the podium, but eleven riders occupied that space.
11th in the quali, 11th in the final makes for some pretty impressive consistency for the number 69, Matt Walker.
Loris Vergier had his break-out ride today, with a fantastic third place in pro men.
6th and 7th at the first splits, Harry Heath held on for his best ever result and first top 10 with a 9th place finish.
Hotseat nerve levels peaking as Vergier spends what must have felt like at least a few months in the hot seat.
Stevie Smith sprinted as hard as he could to the finish, but he would still be four and a half seconds off Gwin, finishing in fifth.
Back. In. This. Stevie Smith has officially found old form once again and in good time ahead of the Worlds in Andorra three weeks from now.
After all this time it's great to see Smith finally re-released onto his natural habitat... the podium.

Minnaar across the line to another 'shock' podium to match his best performance here of 2nd place in 2010.
The living legend looked to have pulled off yet another amazing victory, with clean lines and no mistakes during his run. But in the end, he'd find himself knocked down a spot by America's own World number 1.

Loic Bruni off another rip-roaring run combining insane smoothness with stem-chewing aggression.
The day once again ended disastrously for poor Loic and it was a full-gas sprint to the line in an attempt to salvage as many points as possible to maintain his standing in the overall.
Loris commiserates Loic on his second consecutive Windham flat tyre, and more importantly, another missed shot at the win and some crucial series points lost.

The home crowd cheering Gwin in as he stares down the finish line after arguably one of the cleanest and most powerful downhill race runs of all time.
Aaron crossed the line with a staggering margin of victory, much to the delight of the crowd, while the rest of the pro field were left scratching their heads. When he's on; and he's been on quite a bit this year, he is simply unstoppable.

Special Ops were called in to keep the rabble-rousers from rushing into the finish area in a Gwin-frenzy.

Part of the issue that takeiteasyridehard is bringing up is that there isn't a good alternative in English to refer to people from the USA. Alternatives have been proposed but none have stuck. Come up with a good one and promote it!
As for what you said to me, I don't think you understood what I said. I didn't make an excuse for the term or provide a justification of the term; I provided an explanation of its use. I did deny your explanation, which relied on false claims about the people of the USA and the others who refer to them as Americans. Really was looking forward to seeing his run even though he wiped out, but didn't see it on the Red Bull stream when I finally had a chance to look last night. Is there anywhere that captures runs that aren't in the main stream, or is it lost to the ether?
As for myself, I'm not disappointed what so ever. I have some consistency to figure out but it's good to finally know about where I stand. Hopefully ( if i have the budget) I'll get to do some European WCs next year.
I actually didn't take a look at who makes it and don't think it's sold to the public (sorry!!), but if it is, it would probably be sold through the USAC website.
