The UCI released the team list last week and one notable absence was Aaron Gwin. We reached out to Gwin on Friday and he said he wasn't sure why the details hadn't appeared on the UCI's team list because he will be fielding his own program again for 2024.

Now, it looks like Gwin Racing has been added to the list, with the team roster including Aaron Gwin, Seth Sherlock and Canadian Junior racer, Michael Delesalle.

bigquotesIt's been a busy time around here! I've been working on a few new future projects and patiently putting the pieces in place for those. I'll have more info to announce in the upcoming months when we're ready. On the race team side, I will continue to run my own program moving forward. I'm not sure why those details didn't show up on the UCI's team list but I've been told that they will be added soon. The team will consist of myself and 2 other riders, who I'm really looking forward to working with as they come up through the ranks. Much of our past team infrastructure, staff, etc, will stay in place. There will also be a few new faces. I'm excited for the future and looking forward to sharing a lot more of these details here soon.Aaron Gwin

No word yet as to who the frame sponsor will be after Gwin confirmed his departure from Intense Cycles last month, but it looks like Todd Schumlick will continue to manage the team alongside assistant team manager Cathy Zinck.

  • 50 0
Its Thor i would have Thot.
  • 18 0
Thats why they needed an ass manager.
  • 1 0
Thor, it is an MX brand (apparently venturing into MTB as well)
  • 11 1
This is good news. I am thinking either Intense (Sherlock still seems to slaying tails in BC on one) or Commencal frame given windrock relationship. Either or it will be nice to see Gwin get back on the clock after a big one last year and long recovery. Dude is an absolute winner and owns his predicament.
  • 9 0
Maybe Yeti? Todd Schumlick is also Richies trainer/manager I think so there’s a potential connection
  • 5 0
@TannerValhouli: Gwin used to race for Yeti in his early days!
  • 1 0
Wait, what? Commencal is the fleet brand for Windrock?
  • 1 0
@rodeoJ: I thought I saw some sort of teaser comment from yeti about this. would be the surprise of the off season if it happens.
  • 2 0
@rodeoJ: back when their DH frame was the shizzle
  • 1 0
@rodeoJ: true story, I’d like to see him back to his early days
  • 11 1
I don’t know but I hope the new FrameWorks for him.

 Raaw speed for the Gwinner?
  • 6 1
Bought a bikepark and now has a team with his own name . Very similar to what the Athertons are doing. I can only guess that he will probably start to develop is own bike brand as well. Fair play
  • 1 0
That would be my guess. Athertons seem to be doing well, why wouldn't anyone want to copy that!
  • 4 0
Curious what frame he’ll run. He’s off IFR, but it doesn’t mean he can’t use the M1 frame. All we know Fox Factory, TRP, and E thirteen are here to stay. Will he stick with Vee tires or go with Continental or Maxxis?
  • 7 0
He spent a lot of time developing it so I think the new M1 is the most likely bike, but Gwin love product development, so him moving onto a different brand to develop a prototype bike would make a lot of sense too. Gwin back to Yeti to work on their new bike after all this time???????

Other site rumor thread has been doing some digging so far.

If you check this link, Under the "other partners" section (like 3/4 of the way down the page), it lists Intense factory racing, and Onza tires.

www.redbull.com/us-en/athlete/aaron-gwin

It might be stale info, but if it is, then its weirdly inaccurate.

Last season IFR was on Intense frames, and Vee Tires. And for a few years before then they were on Kenda. Gwin hasn't been on Onza tires for a hot minute. Although he does have his own signature tire (Aquila) from that time period.

Seems like it could be accurate?
  • 2 0
@ocnlogan: as mentioned on Vital, Onza is from the YT days.
  • 1 0
@AddisonEverett: given that Gwin is running his own program that means he wouldn't be on Yeti's factory team. not sure whether or not that would preclude him from being involved in further development, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  • 10 0
@ocnlogan: Intense, Onza, Wonder if he will be running Gripshift, Ringle hubs and Kooka cranks for a full 90's throwback build.
Just excited to see him race!
  • 1 1
Yeti. Finish his career where he started.
  • 5 0
It'll be a rebranded branded M1, like a Gwinning G1... Just part of intenses heritage...
  • 7 1
Gwin alway has a way of waiting too long...
  • 4 0
Asst mgr is abbreviation for assistant manager. Ass manager is abbreviation for...ass manager. Then again, far be it for us to tell you how to staff your team!
  • 2 0
The two other riders are Canadian. Maybe this team will riding a Canadian bike brand frame? With Canadians getting podium DH results (Goldstone and Illes). I am sure brands like Devinci and RM have some interest in getting back to DH WC.
  • 2 0
Frame sponsor will be Intense. I don't know why it wouldn't be. He put a lot of time into that frame and was looking good on it before he crashed. And Seth is an intense guy too. It'll be Intense. Just not a factory program. Which Gwin probably prefers because he can hand select his components and suspension.
  • 3 0
Gwin was supposedly at next level speed pre season last year according to Dakotah. Back on his signature tires. Now he has the M-1 developed and dialed just for him! Dak was riding faster than ever before. Breeden found some serious speed on that bike too. Could be the best race rig he's ever had. I truly believe if Gwin is healthy Minaars world cup win record could be in trouble this year.
  • 3 0
@fwp39: That's what... 3 wins to tie. 4 to pass? That's a lot of wins. I'll be stoked to see him get 1. I'd love to see him get 1 win this year and get a world champs win. I think he's got a win or 2 left in him but 3-4 is gonna be tough. These young dudes are so damned fast and the new format favors younger riders with more energy and guys that are in the top 10. He's neither. But I'd love to see it. Be good for the sport in America.
  • 3 1
Intense? Maybe Vital knows or has one of their sneaky photographers out on a mission to capture a grainy Bigfoot photo of it him roaming the woods.
  • 1 0
Well played Gwin, you got your own article by holding off past the main news. The guy is a legend and knows how to play the system. Kept things very tight during recent podcast interviews too.
  • 3 1
Very nice to have an ASS. TEAM MANAGER. Any way, so friggin stoked to see this guy bring it home once again.
  • 3 0
Devinci? He's working with barreli on coaching, could be a hint
  • 2 0
Fingers crossed for Foes haha. Whatever he's riding, I hope he can stay healthy and enjoy racing again this season.
  • 3 0
I thought he invested in Intense. Is he not a part owner in that company?
  • 2 0
I’m not 100% sure but I believe that ownership was in the race team, not the company itself. I think when it was first announced it was a bit confusing and sounded like he invested in the company itself.
  • 4 1
He's riding the new Ellsworth DH. Review coming soon to PB.
  • 2 0
 How DARE you!
  • 2 0
This guy is such a legend. Hope he sees lots of success in his reinvestment

Love to see it, though i'd love to see them add a female to the roster. e.g. does Kailey Skelton have a team for 2024?

 PenGwin...
  • 3 1
 Frameworks? hm
  • 5 6
The team will consist of myself and 2 other riders,

Vs

The team will consist of 2 riders and myself

…it’s the details…
  • 1 0
I've heard GT will be the frame. Can anyone confirm?
  • 1 0
This would makes sense as it is an American brand, and that seems important to him. Another option I thought of was Crestline. They were on the World Cup Circuit last season, and are American owned as well I think.
  • 1 0
 Excellent!
  • 1 1
Is it possible to repeak? Or is he washed up?
  • 7 0
Peaking or just riding reckless really has nothing to do with it. It's mostly about everything coming together, bike working perfectly, riding confident n smart, having fun doing it, surrounded by good people and not enduring injuries or the fear of being injured is how races are won or podium.
  • 3 6
Its funny to watch IFR videos showing how Dakota / Gwin combo on Intense prototype bikes, and Dakota keep getting good race results.

It's funny to see Dakota not in Gwin's team in 2024.
  • 1 0
I almost feel bad for Dakotah, 100% had the speed to win last year, now he's back to square one with a new bike. That cannot be easy mentally, especially if Gwin came out on the M-1 this year and won.
  • 1 3
 Chainless……
  • 1 0
Might be with a belt though...
