Leanna Gerrard opted to rock a vintage Cannondale Judge in the Air DH; this is the bike she used to race professionally almost a decade ago in the NORBA series. "I brought a set of allen keys in case I need to bolt anything back on during my race run."
How to lose focus immediately prior to your race run: get pinned down by Brett Tippie 2 minutes before start time... it's kind of like being caught in a tornado. A mile a minute and a joke a second tornado, but still a tornado...
Two approaches to getting the game face on: on the left, Casey Brown and Tracy Hannah keeping it light during their warm up for the race; on the right, Jill Kintner going into racer mode, spinning the pedals backwards while leaning on a post--an old racer's trick to keep the legs warmed up when one can't spin on a trainer.
Casey Brown gunning down the A-Line Drop.
Tracey Hannah, coming in to the finish line for third spot.
Dropping in: Anneke Beerten at speed over the GLC drop.
Anneke Beerten going full gas for the finish aboard her brand spanking new 650b Specialized Enduro.
Jill has always done well in Whistler, and this day was no exception. Brett Tippie getting the inside scoop on why she won by such a large margin.
Final results for pro woman: Jill Kintner (1st), Anneke Beerten (2nd), and Tracey Hannah (3rd).
Some racers use trainers. Some calisthenics. Others spin the cranks backwards while leaning on a wall. But when it comes to warming up, Wyn Masters takes the top prize by riding wheelies.
Graeme Pitts waving the flag and making tables flat enough to serve drinks off of.
The cast of Nitro Circus was here to play too. Travis Pastrana playing on a mountain bike.
I feel bikes of a few years old start to become obsolete such is the rate of recent tech progress, cars get cooler as they're older.. I have an 01 M5 and I love it. Excellent result for Mick, kinda wanted to see Kovarik take it too though..
Metal Fatigue man! Remember doing a race a few years ago and the dude in front of me had a fork fail and separate. He needed some serious dental work after that. Check your welds boys!
The only real jump in geometry, suspension and material development was around 2011. 63 degree head angles, low bottom brackets, carbon fiber, 800 mm handle bars, charger damper, longer reach and that stuff became around 2011 mainstream and still is. No need for new bikes every other year.
I just built up a trail bike around a '98 Marin B17 frame for about £500 and love it! The only way I could see myself being able to afford a full sus, no regrets whatsoever.
Just built up a 07' IH 7.7 with air front and rear, this baby slays buffed out anything. Have a 14' Glory 0 for the super gnar when I need it. I love how similar the DW and maestro handle..... Hmmmmm
back in the day we were at a race in schweitzer and saw this blonde chick on a cannondale. word on the hill she was a factory rider but none of us had the guts to talk to her. pretty sure it was Leanna Gerrard! lol
