The 2021 DH World Championships are underway in Val di Sole, stay tuned for live results and updates.
Izabela Yankova kicked off racing today in Val di Sole with a huge win in the Junior Women's race as she bested second-placed Kine Haugom by nearly 11 seconds. Jackson Goldstone takes home the rainbow jersey from his first Junior World Championships after a great performance. There was a close fight with Jordan Williams, but Jackson would find
1.812 seconds on the British rider.
Myriam Nicole had a perfect run in the Elite Women's race to fly into first place by nearly five seconds. Marine Cabirou laid down one of the most impressive performances today as she fought through her injury from Les Gets to cross the line in second place. 2020 World Champion, Camille Balanche, didn't match her winning run from last year, but she still walks away from Val di Sole with the bronze medal after a great run on the tricky course.
The Elite Men's racing provided plenty of drama as Greg Minnaar takes his fourth World Championships title. Benoit Coulanges came close to taking the top spot, but he would have to settle for the silver medal as he came across the line
0.227 seconds behind Greg. Troy Brosnan rounds out the top three riders and is the only other person to come within a second of Greg Minnaar's winning time.

Only on bbc and yes I did go on redbull uk
Been watching on GCN race pass, and they had 2 with Gee been one of them for the woman's.
For the mens it just back to one guy and a bit boring, no tech info, just describing what was on screen!
I think I seen on Instagram Gee was doing the Eurosport commentary too, I did try and find that on Amazon but I for some reason the men’s wasn’t showing up?
It was just a shame they only had one person for the Mens, they did the same for the XC, they had Oli Beckingsale for the Womans XC, again v good insight, training/kit etc, but then Just ONE person for the mens, and it was very boring! it was like they could not afford to pay them for the two races!
I'm not looking for a conversation on the topic, so don't reply looking for 1 LoL
She absof*ckinglutely slayed it !!
What's Duck la orange in French? :-)
I really liked the details that Elliot provided.
I want to watch the race!
especially for early riders. But 10-20 were staggered by 3 minutes. The top 10 were staggered by 3:30 (winning time was 3:29). In theory they should have been able to show almost full runs.
Loved the commentary today though. Full of stoke. And props to Pene - awesome result.
No word on what happened to Amury or Ahearn?
Meanwhile I can’t wait until he starts tricking his DH bike!
Where's our Aussie lads Cycling Australia??
Damn, Vali can't catch a break -gutted for her.
Hey, every little bit helps.
No one would be in awe of a robot winning every race in F1, because winning does not visbly ignite passion inside robots. That's where Schumacher and every other sportsman with next to no personality falls down with the fans. He didn't convey any joy or pssion when he won. Even that contrived jump into the air he would do on the podium looked like a German PR person told him to do it to make him seem more human. It wasn't from the heart. That's fine - everyone isn't the same - but it explains to me why so many people groaned when he won, again. Same as Gwin. He's just not a cool guy, and he won too much in a short space of time.
No banter + too high a proportion of wins in a season = a lot of peeved off fans.
I will add the caveat that toooooo much personality is even more contrived these days i.e. too many people make an effort to impose their persona or interject their "personal story" onto every event they can. Sometimes we just want to see a good old-fashioned race and what it brings out of people.
But what you wrote is fantastic -really well put.
"I'm a broadcast engineer, don't ask me anything."
Then click on the live event. Don't click on "switch location".
You can (at most) have as much screentime per rider, as their start interval. Say they start every 30sec, you only have 30sec per rider to show.
Sure you can increase the start interval but then the competition lasts longer.
If you think about it you will find alot of solutions for this "problem" of yours, but then continue to think and you will find out, that none of them seems a good solution:
- Longer start intervals
- Shorter tracks
- No Start coverage
- No finish coverage
Not trying to insult. I just read the same after every race and it kinda irritates me that people don't get this.

Greg is GOAT!
It was like watching an open university program on geology
I do love the bbc, but they really don’t get it, wasted opportunity☹️
The top guys are so ridiculously fast, so cool Minaar still in the mix.
Remember seeing him race 2001 Worlds in Vail, Co. Pretty sure it was him on scorcher run then nailed fencing at bottom of course, think he was wearing skin suit back then as well.
Cheers
Minaaar minaaar
(Oh Minaar GOAT)
(if you don't see this comment it is because he didn't win)
Copy paste or tweak my rant if you want...
You coverage of the 2021 DH finals is absolutely appalling and offensive.
As someone who watches every race via red bull TV who have commentators that actually know about the sport . But because you bought some rights we are stuck with your offensive and unqualified commentator. Firstly, I find it disgusting that the commentator uses the term "schizophrenic" so loosely to describe something none relative. Mountain biking is an inclusive sport not a club for snob like ableists. Secondly, might try to learn some of the riders names so you don't cause offence. I mean you know who's riding days before. Thirdly, the commentators attitude towards and comments on people not coming above 3rd is a bit cold. Fourthly? I would like you to compare both the red bulls showing and the bbcs showing to show the huge amounts of technical riding talk and feedback. Has your commentator even got a mountain bike? LASTLY! You owe the whole UK mountain biking community for essentially taking a dump on the biggest race of the year. Had I watched this as a layman I would not of been excited or wanted to get on a bike after. Watching red bull TV coverage is enthusiastic and encouraging. Listening to old professionals talk and their love for the sport. Your not only annoying existing bikikers. Your putting new bikers off. I had broke my ribs and colar bone two weeks ago and now I have covid. Stuck at home in endless pain. With the only think I was looking forward too has been pooped on by you. I pay a TV licence and never watch anything on the BBC. The one thing I'm forced to watch on your terrible service which was also a pain to use and a nightmare to find the event or any scheduling. As a British cycling member I will be forwarding this onto them to also question your incompetence the second year in a row. Legging 2020 was poor but not half as sole destroying as today. Oh yeah? Sack your camera man too. Jumping back and forth between different runs while your commentator messes up.
Seul moyen de le voir pour moi: l'équipe TV.

Bien mieux le lien sur une tv suisse qu'a mis un mec en début de commentaires.
On va y arriver
