The results are in from an amazing third round of the 2021 DH World Cup in Maribor.
Jackson Goldstone kicked off racing today by taking his second World Cup win after his first at the last round in Les Gets. Jordan Williams couldn't quite match the top speed today and crossed the line in second,
0.387 back. Repeating the same top three as Les Gets, Lachlan Stevens-McNab finished the weekend in third place. Impressively Jackson Goldstone's winning time would have been good enough for fifth place in yesterday's Elite Men's qualifying.
The Junior Women's racing saw another repeat victory from Les Gets as Phoebe Gale, once again, set the fastest time of the day. Phoebe was able to pull ahead of second place with a
0.791 gap to Izabela Yankova. Closing out the top three was Aina Gonzalez Grimau, sitting just over five seconds back.
The Elite Women's racing provided some incredible riding, with Myriam Nicole besting the tricky course. Eleonora Farina laid down a flat out run to take second place with a
1.322 second gap from the leader. Camille Balanche finished off the top three riders backing up a first and third place at the first two rounds this year. It was another tough day for Vali Höll. After qualifying first, she couldn't find the top race pace and ends the day in sixth.
It couldn't have been more dramatic in the Elite Men's racing as the lead changed hands for every one of the final four riders. In the end, it was Loris Vergier who was finally able to show his incredible speed as he took the win by
1.7 seconds. Thibaut Daprela backed up his win in Les Gets with a second-place finish. At one point, it even looked like he was going to take another victory today. Laurie Greenland put down one of the wildest runs we have seen this week and found himself finishing in third place.

Show some respect and be friendly.....at least try to!
-His commentary is quite often a wildly different interpretation from what's actually happening than mine. Rather personal I know, but I think Reece and Elliot have a way better insight into whats happening and provide more poignant commentary on the race.
-He leaked Bryceland's departure from WC racing during the broadcast of his last race run before Bryceland had a change to announce this himself. On top of that, he cited wrong reasons...
I surely don't hate him, but I dislike him enough to prefer having somebody else in the commentary box.
Reece awesome, can't deny that either. Some day I'm sure he'll be on the mic.
As for Reece - yes he is a very charming guy and did a fantastic job as well as Elliot. So i'd say we can be happy to have some variations in the commentary box and none of these guys deserves a "boo"!
Admittedly it took me a while to get over some of his style but overall i cannot imagine live-documentary without him.
He’s deeply passionate, super knowledgeable and him and Rob “this man”-man are mutually ironing out misunderstandings about whats going on without being awkward.
I highly enjoy it and am thankful that he’s a part of what makes following DH-racing as exciting and - above all - human as it is.
Thank you Claudio (Tracey, Rob and Elliot) for making it special everytime for those who can’t be there in person!
That said, I wouldn't argue with anything you (and many others) wrote about his positive traits, his passion and the good he did/does for the sport in general.
It almost seems like sympathy/antipathy are largely subjective.
@danielson-01:
Let's not get too far into Warner vs Claudio, haha.
If they keep mixing it up with the commentators like they did so far this year, I'm happy.
And who knows, maybe, someday, we'll live in world with Warner, Peaty, and Minnaar in the commentary box (and tearing it down in the process). Although it will probably take some years until Minnaar is ready to retire...
We can take this discussion to Geisskopfhütte over a beer if you like : )
Just like in surfing. Give all of them some mic time. It does not have to be all Rob or Claudio or Elliot or Reece.. Personally they all give some interesting input in a way or another
And thanks red bull for the coverage!!!
Loic went out and smoked the field the next day at MSA and I got to give him a hug at the after party.
She makes me think about those people who come from families where the parents constantly put pressure on their children to get the best out of them. In these families, you have to be the first at everything or nothing else, and a failure is rarely admitted. She's so young, she has her life in front of her, but she doesn't seem able to chill and take it easy.
I think her problem is only mental, not physical nor technical. Hopefully she'll get more maturity with time and experiences. Relax Vali, relax!!!
PS: may be she should be coached by Daprela
@LaXcarp: There is a difference between performance and result. You can be unhappy about your performance, but shouldn't let the result get to you too much. And it actually takes experience and mental strength the get there. I think riders like Gee Atherton and Greg Minnaar have that. They can finish lower ("crappy result" if you'd like to call it like that) but still be happy because their run went to plan. And then sometimes their result is right up there again. But many tend to judge their performance by their result (as in, how high up the score sheet) and that's where it gets frustrating. Because you don't have (and shouldn't have) control over how well others are doing. A well documented case is Steve Peat. If you've seen the Seasons movie (Collective/Anthill with Peaty racing MSA in 2007) and The Tipping Point (Clay Porter, the 2008 race season) you've noticed Peaty landed on the podium several times, but wasn't happy. In MSA 2007, Sam Hill was on the top step. In Val di Sole 2008 (Worlds) Peaty was actually happy with his run and Sam Hill crashed out, but Gee Atherton just had a faster run and won. Didn't mean Peaty suddenly had a bad run, but he was still upset. In 2009 he changed his mindset and learned to have fun again. He had a good season and won the Worlds. Another example is how Twan van Gendt improved his mindset in a relatively short period of time and eventually won the BMX Worlds. He is incredibly strong and disciplined, but being unhappy with poor (or "crappy") results was only doing harm. I love how well this was documented in the video below:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFXdnIYi7ig
TL;DR: Being unhappy with a "crappy" result doesn't help much because 1) you don't have full control over a result and 2) being unhappy isn't helpful full stop.
The other times she kicked the finish sidewall and slapped the handlebar.
Very good for a first year junior ! Fast af
Digging commentators is so subjective I guess... I watch F1 racing and there is a commentator named Martin Brundle; I love that guy, and yet I heard someone say they thought he was boring... WTF?? Oh well....
Lol!
I was on the track and Phoebe Gale was listed as DNS on the live timing and apparently she was late for her start (as I heard). Izabela Yankova was at first place and we were celebrating already, thinking she won. Don't get me wrong, a win is a win, Phoebe got down faster, but it was like 4-5 minutes after Sophie started.
So what actually happened? Phoebe was allowed to race even if she was late for her start? Because she's a factory rider?
I highly doubt any other non-factory girl would be allowed to start in this case.
Still, a second place is a great success, but it was disappointing to see that happen...
They're warming up but are they "in their bubble" and not wanting to know anything ?
Are they sometimes watching to see where things could be difficult ? (knowing where previous riders fall, curve or berm deteriorating, etc)
Are they having someone from the team watching and telling them if there's anything useful to know ?
delivering now.
What they don’t do though is help Covid tested pro athletes on a podium outdoors achieve anything at all.
It is true that viruses are smaller than the perforations in the filter, but the COVID virus doesn't leap about by itself, it travels in droplets of moisture from one human to the next when we speak, cough, and even breathe. The masks stop nearly all the transmission of these from a mask wearer, and what's left in the air has little chance of making it to the next person who is wearing a mask.
Note that nearly every anti-mask or anti-vaxxer regrets their decisions on their death bed. Please don't let you or your loved ones be one of them.
To quote the N95 mask box itself:
“Warning: this product is an ear loop mask. This product is not a respirator and will not provide any protection against COVID-19 (coronavirus) or other viruses or contaminants”
They wear them during surgeries to protect the SURGEON from blood/fluids/particles that become airborne during surgery.
If the masks work, why the lockdowns?
If the lockdowns work, why the vaccines?
If the vaccines work, why the masks?
When does it end?
Masks do stop respiratory droplets. But after your fingerf*ck them 87 times a day adjusting, taking on and off, touching your face, eating food, their effectiveness drops to zero. This is what the mushbrains don't get. iamamodel probably drives in his car wearing his mask. I mean, he would if his government let him leave the house.
