@Melikd06: or what they "say" you can win lol I like how it's January 3rd and there have only been 6 names released out of 24 and half of those are pending conformation.
@kroozctrl: As someone who will absolutely never be an Outside+ subscriber, I did win one of the Advent Calendar days. Rest assured, for now, you can stay on Pinkbike.
Hey, a little story for Christmas, it will soothe me to tell it to you. Someone stole my 2 bikes in my courtyard in Poitiers (France) at the beginning of november 2021. A gravel bike that I used everyday to go to work. (When you don't have car, it sucks to do 10km per day without car nor bikes.) Anyway. the second bike was a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR comp Carbon 2012. The best bike ever, that i upgraded a lot with XT, Kashima etc. I was so in rage to discover that my two bikes were stolen. (No inssurance of course) So I went to file a complaint at the police station, then the next evening, I see a shady ad on a site called LeBonCoin (the good deal in French) and it was exactly my gravel bike on the photos but without all the accessories on it. I contacted the person to have an appointment and see the bike. And at the same time, i went to the police station to prevent a possible questionable announcement of my bike. At that moment, they trusted me and introduced us to two police officers from the anti-criminal brigade. They said that as soon as I have a specific meeting with the thief, they will help me meet him (in case it is a getapan or something worse) The evening passes and I managed to have a photo of the bike from the person and a quick meeting for 1:30 p.m. in front of a restaurant in a village near Poitiers for tomorrow. In my head, I didn't know what to think ... Is it really my bike ? This person is really stupid to sell my bike the day after the theft ? Fortunately for me I took a lot of pictures of my bike, I changed the tires recently and I know there is a paint defect on the frame exactly on the brand logo. I skip the start of the day very stressful for me until the meeting with the two police officers who take me and my girlfriend in front of this restaurant to see if the person will be there with my bike. They said "It's not like in the movies you know, 9 times out of 10, we don't catch them, or they're not there, they disappear." We went to this restaurant and they hid in an unmarked car a few meters away with my girlfriend on the phone. The password to assure them that the bike was mine was: "Oh, there is paint dripping on the frame, it's a shame". And this is what we saw at the corner of the restaurant... A young woman from my age, with my gravel bike in her hands. She came to us normally, I smile to her gently. I remind myself that they told us that once i could put my hands on the bike, I would not let the bike away. And that's what i did, but gently to not be suspicious in front of her and at the same time, my girlfriend was faking a call with a friend (but she was with the police officers). I saw my Shimano SPD pedals, my new gravel bike tires and all the stuffs that I know by heart (I think that you have also this feeling with your bike) and finally this paint dripping on the frame. We didn't wait with my girlfriend to tell the password on the phone, but gently again. I keeped asking questions to the thief about the componants of the bike like a normal buyer (and she didn't know what to say about because she doesn't ride bikes) and one of the policeman came out of the corner, he was faking watching his phone. From there, everything happened very quickly. He catched the arm of the thief to put her against the wall, I grabed the bike very hard. "HANDS BEHIND THE BACK". (like in the movies) I saw her face and she didn't react at all. It was so weird. From my story, I skip some details again. But after all of that, we went back to the police station. We learn that she has already stolen bikes in the past. A few minutes later, they had already left to search her house and a friend's house to find maybe the second bike, my Stumpjumper. They still haven't found the bike since. There is no track to find it even today and I still look every night on the bike sales sites. When I can, I go around town to look for my bike, but I don't necessarily have the time. I like to tell this story because it is half happy, the other part isn't good yet. Advices: Take pictures of your bike, the serial number, take insurance, attach with large locks your bikes. PS: my brother bought me an airtag from Apple last night, i will use it correctly for sure.
I kinda felt like a kid waking up in Christmas day to see what was in store. What a rad way to end the year. Merry Christmas everyone and thank you @sewer-rat for the jingle!
@ididntknowhatomakemyusername: Ah shit man! If I only I could be an incognito journo for pinkbike ( not editorial director though, that guy @brianpark does his job well). That would be sick. Send me all kinds of new mtb product to ride or test, and pay me for my thoughts on said products. Pay me to ride and test said bikes and products on the sickest trails. I could get used to that over time I think!
Man, overwhelming positive response to this one! Rightly so, but I wonder where all the Specialized haters went. There’s usually no shortage on this site. I hope they stick to their principles and don’t enter this one, so the rest of us who truly appreciate the bike will have better odds.
If it’s a free bike, their feigned hate disappears. Most of it was based on perceived price inflation, anyways. There’s a reason why S and T bikes consistently rate very highly in reviews. These companies spend a lot on R&D and some of that shows up in the bike price. Even so, given the prices I’m seeing from smaller brands these days, I don’t think the big brands are all that inflated anymore.
@gnarlysipes: Yeah, I hear you. I do think some are pretty sincere in their hate for Spec, though I think it’s a bit misplaced. Who knows? Maybe some of them have stuck to their guns and didn’t enter.
not much of a fan when they sue a company (Cafe Roubaix) for a word (Roubaix). meh if i won id just sell it and get a better bike brand with better morals
@nfa2005: They dropped all charges and apologized. They never sued them. This is a thing that never happened. If I win that bike, I’d likely keep it and proudly ride the s$@t out of it.

There is literally no bike I would rather have. I enjoyed the one I rode so much. Fingers crossed. Suporsed there was no option for an extra entry with a outside plus purchase....
Pinkbike has me singing today! Merry Christmas Pinkbikers!
Annnnddd I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need. And I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree. I just want EVO for my own, More than you could ever know. Make my wish come true! All I want for Christmas is EVO!!!
Best of luck everyone! I'd be stoked to see any regular PBer win this thing. Dreading the thought of it being another coupon clipping, enter every contest on the interwebs type.
What a great place to forget about this crazy world we are currently living in. Thank you pinkbike for the content and contest this year!! Merry Christmas everyone!! Be safe!
@axleworthington: I don't buy carbon bikes simply because I'm a gear destructive rider. This is a great idea. Patent this idea brah and get to making that money.
@axleworthington: But...using carbon fibre (which is vulnerable to impact) to protect against impact? I'm sure it works, but it seems odd. Not intending to poke holes; good luck etc
@Tambo: Yeah, it's about keeping the weight down. Carbon is very light and quite tough. Backed by foam, It can take some pretty big hits and protect you from having to buy a new frame. (Rock strikes usually not covered by warranty)
The problem is that it is expensive!
I see a lot of guys strapping old tires to their frames which works well for protection, but that adds a lot of weight.

Hey Thanks! A project of passion more than trying to make a profit.
Yeah, it's expensive to buy and time consuming on my end to produce and I am very busy with my day job, so I haven't marketed it really.
But it doesn't seem so expensive after you crack a frame due to a rock strike!
The problem is that it is expensive!

I’d guess that some lucky bugger will be ripping on this by the end of January.
