Enduro MTB Mieroszow

Long June weekend. Small city with cca 4.500 inhibitants. Dry Mountains. Melaphyre. 7 Special Stages (SS), 8h of struggles. Temperature 30 ° C. Blue sky, dust, sweat, blood and hope for anesthesia. What is this about? It can only be www.emtb.pl competition in Mieroszow.

In our opinion (and significant amount of other enduro enthusiasts) it was the most difficult physically and technically and the most professionally organized tournament we have had a pleasure to take part, ever. Curtsey to director of the event Maciek Pajak and EMTB crew. Considering the scale of the difficulties to complete the entire route, any possible technical or organizational shortcomings were to be felt double. In this case, no single word expressing dissatisfaction.

Shortly from our side as The 2B Enduro Team we can say: "Veni Vidi Vici”, we came, we saw and we won. What was going on? Fasten your seatbelts … here we go!

Saturday 06.06.2015, 10:15 am, after briefing on the city square market, we go to the Park Hill to get the race started on the enduro red trail.

SS #1 - prologue, we called it "downtown”, in our opinion a masterful idea. Citizens can really feel the competition supporting all riders and seeing them flying on all city stairs. That’s so cool, you feel adrenaline is taking you high!

SS #2 - hardly stamina and definitely technically the easiest episode. The route led through classic single tracks by forest litter and roots. The most demanding was a traverse in 2/3 of the stage length. Narrow track full of roots on the negative slope. Who passed it without support is a guy!

Then we go toward SS #3. The route led through old city Sokolowsko. This small town is famous as there was opened the world's first sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis In 1855. But our route is nasty enough. The last wall is a veritable Golgotha. So vertically, that is not possible to push a bicycle on the peak of Stozek Wielki Mountain. Wherever you have look at... there are these so cool pebbles.

SS #3 - here it began, verification who has a real skill and who rides a bike only. The beginning with the famous wall in the foreground has changed significantly comparing to last year. It was much easier this time and actually possible to overcome (although not all riders were successful there).

Then, there was just hard core. The narrow traverse with roots changing into steppy line leading to juicy safety-pins reach of roots and melaphyres. Clean run of this safety-pin is the key to overcome what is revealed to our eyes just behind. Roots, negative traverse, plummet. And so on till the end of the stage. Well, with small details: in the middle of the route it comes to fight against that rocks again! Melaphyres are everywhere, on the track, below it, above it, everywhere and finally you have to jump off the high ledge and land on what? Of course, on a pile of "coal" as these rocks look similar. Then the down hill through so abruptly departments you fill like descending in express elevator.

SS #4 - stamina traverse without bigger history. Shortly we can say that it took place. The substrate similar to what we had on SS no. 2.

SS #5 - melaphyre, roots, risers "with a tree on the left" and nettles.

Last year, when the ground was much more muddy it seemed to be much harder and longer. This time, there simply was nice drift. The real rollercoaster starts next to the tower of old castle. There you have one second to fasten shoes to the pedals after a hard bike push and ... hello adventure! One of us visited nettle area just after the wall and indeed they were poisonous.

On the access to the SS no. 6 fatigue became more and more noticeable. That is the moment when some riders withdraw from the competition. The sun fried us mercilessly. It is already 3:30 pm and we ride at the head of the group ... temperature crushes (30 ° C in the shade) and in the front of us famous SS no. 6. We feel we're going through "green mile".


SS #6 - in brief " tomato pulp". At the beginning hotfoot on the nice single track through the mountain pines until it turns into the third cosmic speed and we have got the impression that we leave our solar system. More precisely we fall into fairly wide vertical gutter filled with "coal" and traversed by roots forming high shelves. Falling off them increases speed hardly. At the end of the chute generally we cannot see anything. The world is blurred and we are heading towards the light ... After that it was "only" uprightly and melaphyres. Jokingly we define this passage as "rafting". There is no much of riding, just sailing down (but not only one there used to dive in).





Getting to the SS no. 7 – Mercy! We are already sick!!! The blood is coming from the nose, legs are soft, only incredibly vertical walls in front of us.

SS #7 - mixed emotions, we fill slight stomach ache thinking about what waits for us on this stage but on the other hand we are aware that within a few minutes it will be over. It is 5:00 pm and nothing else mater but to rehydrate ourselves with the best in the world cool golden isotonic drink . The only question is: the hotfoot down or let it go? None of this, it is simply impossible to ride slowly there!!! Here we go! In the beginning - inconspicuously, one can say moody track through the meadow and suddenly it comes! Roots, rocks, cruel plummet, well 3 meters down, rocks and roots still. How the mayor of Mieroszow expressed it before the start: "this what you are doing is not exactly normal". Well, when I got there with my bike [lyricist] I fully agreed with him. After this section, the vertical chute down we face afterwards seemed to be a trifle play. It does not matter you cannot get your bike there, it is so upright.


At the end, this is Mieroszow and Dry Mountains!!!
