38 Sick Scrubs from the Leogang DH World Cup 2019

Jun 8, 2019
by Nathan Hughes

While it's true what they say 'no one gets hurt in the air', every racer knows you do tend to lose time floating around up there in the ether. Today during morning practice the step-down was a hive of activity for the photographers as the best in the world leaned their race rigs over, close to the dirt and whispered sweet nothings with their handlebars. So here we have a small gallery dedicated to the art of laying it flat in the name of speed. So, in no particular order, please enjoy.

At Crankworx whip off they have the cardboard 90 degree send-o-meter. For this feature they need scrub meter

Dang this is an art! The only time my bike gets to this angle it's followed by my face 1 second later.
  • 5 1
Rad. Name/upvote your favorite. Let’s see who wins. My vote goes to Mitch.
  • 2 1
What's wrong with me? I prefer technical climbing like Chris Akrigg does over technical descending and I prefer these scrubs over all big air I've seen. When I start to prefer rollbacks over high speed riding I need to see a doctor.
  • 2 0
Where is Brosnan and Fearon? They lay flat masters. Was hanging to see them next series please with the skilz. Can we repeat this series over one of the bigger stumps in race run pls.
  • 1 0
I`ve noticed that quite a lot of riders are using a DHRII as a front tyre... I know it`s pretty common, but does it have to do with the dry hardpack conditions?.... considering that some prefer a DHF, or an Asseguai... I need an aspirin Smile
  • 4 0
Looks like Aluminium cranks on Gwin's bike. Yet another mistake from his mechanic? Might be time to get someone else then Big Grin
  • 3 0
pre hop scrubs for the race win...Minaar and Vergier both lookin fast! Mitch puting on the skills clinic though, damn.
  • 1 0
Mitch for the scrub win, no contest, Hugo/Finn close behind. The look in Gwin's eyes though tells me his sick of this bad luck bs and ready to take another Austrian win tomorrow.
  • 2 0
People always say World Cup DH racing is the equivalent of Formula 1 in the auto world, but I dunno--do F1 drivers have anywhere *near* the style of these riders?
  • 2 0
These are all good and what not, but did you see Dakota's Rock Shox socks and think, why aren't those called Rock Sox? @SramMedia I'll take a pair when they come out thanks
  • 3 0
Dak, Finn, Hugo, and Mitch were by far the best
  • 2 0
Scrubs all well and good...... But how were the fast guys taking this section of track?
  • 2 0
 Flat out.
  • 2 0
I expected Bernard Kerr to be front and center in this discipline. Finn never disappoints????
  • 1 0
Huh, is Hugo running an Aggressor in the rear?? If that is true, that would be a first for the WC DH circuit for that tire as far as I have seen.
  • 1 0
Not sure about the aggressor specifically but guys have been running heavy trail tires on this course for years in an attempt to get a bit less rolling resistance. I can’t remember when but someone made a big deal of it a few years ago when they were running a beefed up Schwalbe Hans Dampf here.
  • 2 0
Does Gwin ever not have that look? Seriously. "Track, move. Before I freakin hurt you." Big Grin
  • 3 0
 Less is more.
  • 2 0
 Number 7 changed the game!!
