The third round of the 2019 EWS series is over and despite some hotly contested racing across the weekend, the results would be the same as the previous two rounds. Martin Maes and Isabeau Courdurier are dominating this year and with leads of
32 and
53.25 seconds respectively at the end of the weekend they were pretty much untouchable. Despite the series leaders domination of the race, there would be breakout results from privateer Ella Conolly who took her first Elite stage win and first Elite overall podium after finishing in third position. In the Elite Men, a great performance by Jose Borges who put in some incredible times across the weekend would finish second when he crossed the line on stage eight. Reigning champion Sam Hill was closer to the top this weekend but he couldn't find that extra bit of speed to topple the unstoppable Maes.

STAGE 4After the first stage of the day, Martin Maes continues his domination of the Elite Men's competition with another stage win by almost three seconds. Adrien Dailly managed a third-place finish despite having stitches overnight after a crash on day one. Ed Masters got the closest to Maes on stage four but he was still a long way off the pace of the series leader. In the Elite Women's race privateer, Ella Conolly would take her first Elite EWS stage win over Isabeau Courdurier by just
0.15 seconds. The top four female riders would be separated by just
1.02. It looks like we have some exciting competition ahead of us today.

STAGE 5ResultsMartin Maes has taken his first stage defeat of the weekend. The series leader is currently sitting in fourth but he is still leading the overall. Jesse Melamed took his first stage win in Madeira, can he keep his speed for the rest of the day? In the Elite Women, it was back to business as usual for Isabeau Courdurier who took back the top spot after missing out to Ella Conolly on stage four. Noga Korem came closest to the Frenchwoman just
0.07 off the pace.

STAGE 6Isabeau Courdurier went back to dominated the women's field on stage six with an almost five second lead of Noga Korem. Ella Conolly would have a mechanical while on stage and would fall back to 15th position, can she reclaim some of the lost time and still finish on the podium at the end of the day? In the Elite Men, Martin Maes would lose out on another stage by almost a second to Jesse Melamed. Jesse had a great race in Madeira in 2017 until a huge mechanical took him out of the race, it looks like he is hoping to make up for that disaster today.

STAGE 7 (Queen)Both series leaders are back to winning stages with impressive wins by both riders. In the Elite Men Jose Borges would put down an incredible run that seemed unbeatable by anyone that isn't Martin Maes. Ed Masters would sit over five seconds back from Borges in third. Isabeau Courdurier would extend her winning margin with a
2.09 seconds gap to ALN and a
3.9 gap to third-placed Noga Korem. Ella Conolly would be back near the top again with a fourth-place finish on stage seven.
