After an off-season full of speculation, we finally have the news that Danny Hart will be racing for the freshly renamed Continental GT Racing team.

It seems Danny Hart will not be riding a Nukeproof this year as he joins the roster of riders on the Continental GT Racing team after it lost its title sponsor of Nukeproof. In its press release, the team says that its bike sponsorship from Nukeproof "ended abruptly" on February 21, but it had "already courted the team to several interested parties." The team says "GT Bicycles was our preferred option with a World Cup winning platform and a great working relationship with Continental."

With GT replacing the previous bike and title sponsor of Nukeproof, the team becomes the Continental GT Racing team for the 2024 season. Joining the fresh addition of Danny Hart is Vero Widmann, Chris Cumming and Harry Molloy who are all returning to race with the team.

bigquotesThis small family team was formed back in 2021 to support two young Irish riders Ronan Dunne and Chris Cumming break into World Cup Racing. Had it not been for the vision of Continental Tires and Nukeproof Bikes none of this would have been possible. After a standout season in 2023 as a fully-edged UCI Elite Team, no one could have imagined the turmoil that would ensue for not just the team but the entire mountain bike industry.

During the winter of 2023, while the future of Nukeproof hung in the balance, we did not know if we were going racing in 2024. Then the news came on February 21st that our bike sponsorship had ended abruptly. The team ethos of being quick to react meant that we had already courted the team to several interested parties, but GT Bicycles was our preferred option with a World Cup winning platform and a great working relationship with Continental. With GT stepping in alongside Continental, we are extremely excited to announce that for 2024, the team is officially the Continental GT Racing Team!
Continental GT Racing - Press Release

bigquotesWe're thrilled that GT has come on board to partner with Continental and keep these super exciting athletes at the forefront of World Cup racing. We truly believe in these racers and what Mark and the team bring to the sport, we are so proud of what this team has already achieved and are stoked to be able to continue to partner together and keep the team racing ahead. The team is home to a combination of both up and coming talent and highly experienced voices, so we can’t wait to see them pushing their limits on the Gravity range and our prototype tires. Kelsey Rollet - Head of Global Bicycle Continental Tires

bigquotesIt’s been a wild ride pulling this together in the last week, but GT is very proud to partner with Mark and the team. Last minute drives to get riders bikes to test, figuring out the logistics of getting frames to riders in three different countries are just some of the hurdles that we’re overcoming to make this happen, as we go racing within weeks, but it’s a great example of like-minded people coming together to make a little bit of magic happen. Clive Gosling - Head Of Marketing GT Bicycles

bigquotesComing o the success of 2023 we never expected the turmoil that would engulf us as a team, it’s been a roller coaster! A genuine big thank you goes out to Continental Tires for their continued support and belief in the programme and a massive welcome to GT Bicycles for stepping in at the very last minute as a frame sponsor. 2024 is looking prime with the addition of Kenny Clothing, TRP and Renthal. Everyone held fast as we worked through our plans to secure our 2024 race programme and I am indebted to all our sponsors who have remained with us. Everyone in Continental GT Racing, athletes, mechanics, and road crew are stoked to be associated with such iconic brands. Mark Cumming Owner/Manager

Alongside the new title sponsor and the addition of Danny Hart the team also has Kenny Clothing, TRP and Renthal joining its list of sponsors. Returning as sponsors in 2024 are Bluegrass, DT Swiss, Oakley, Peaty's Products, ODI and Crankbrothers.

I think that we will see good things from Danny this season on GT, It looks like one of if not the most active working bikes on the track during slowmo clips

GT continues to impress as a brand that seems to care about biking in general, not just about money. I wonder who at the company deserves to be thanked? Pats on the back all around. It hasn't gone unnoticed.

Now go get em Danny.

I can tell you that one mensch around GT is Steve "Coach" Spencer. Unsure if he had anything to do with this, but he's beloved in the scene by just about anyone who knows him.

 @Hogfly: this 1000%!

Coach is the top in his class

@Hogfly: I've known Steve for quite a few years... Definitely good people..

Great news. I know there's lot's of 'bit old' 'Champery was a Lifetime ago' stuff going around, but he's a class act & still a podium contender.

I'll never forget Snowshoe 2019 when he found time on Peirron's flawless run and gifted him The Big Sad in the overall fight with Bruni. He's not the most consistent dude but on his day he's peerless

@Venturebikes: yes, that was epic. Thank you for that reminder! was that really 2019? man time flies.

@Venturebikes: That was 5 years ago...not trying to hate but there is a reason he didn't get picked up by a major team.

So, will they all be driving continental GT’s?

We joke, but it's really bad for them that even googling "continental GT racing team" mostly returns cars..

 No.

Very cool for GT to step up, and I'm stoked that their DH chassis will continue on a team this year. I'm also excited to see what Danny can do with a proven frame this year. I think he still has podium potential, but he hasn't gotten along with a frame/team in some time.
  • 12 1
Danny is still a force to be reckoned with. Super stoked for him.

Riding GT bikes since 2012, and I'm glad they'll still be a Force (pun intended) on the WC DH front, with none other than Mr. Big Bawlz himself....Ethan Craik showed that the new Fury chassis is more than capable of running at the front, and it'll be cool to see Danny rippin' on one in '24. Might have to ditch my Maxxis tires for some Conti's in 24!

The team announcement on Instagram calls Chris Cumming "cumdog millionaire."

Seems like that nickname didn't make the cut in this press release.

Brilliant to see he gt a ride for the new season

I'm expecting an avalanche of wins.

This frame looked like it was working really well last season so I'm happy to see Danny ending up on the GT. This frame and the good Conti tires and we could be seeing some great results!
  • 2 0
Aside from that snapped head tube mid race I'd have to agree
  • 1 0
@DylanZ91: Ryan Pinkerton hammered that frame and never had an issue. That frame is solid IMHO.
  • 2 0
@DylanZ91: when did that happen? I'm out of the loop
  • 2 0
The main thing is Danny has a race ride for this season. I'm assuming he has taken a big paycut to make it happen, but maybe he is being supported in $$ by personal sponsors? He seems to be pushing some sponsors heavily on his socials.
  • 5 1
Was really looking forward to a typed quote from Danny. Love the dude but have never understood a single word he has said.
  • 3 1
I’ve heard rumors it’s tough for him to sit down…at a keyboard.
  • 3 0
When is Conti releasing their super soft compound in their enduro and trail casings?
  • 1 0
the enduro and trail casing tires are made in asia, vs the DH casing tires are made in germany. Might have something to do with which compounds they're capable of producing per plant

This Avalanche of good news was picked up by a sensor, it scored a Richter 8.0 of Force. As long as he can make the Grade and avoid the Slammer and be a real Performer, he will go Mach One. His riding style is like a Psyclone or a Tempest with a speed series of wins and no Sanctions. Hopefully his speech therapist is working on his LaBomba Ruckus accent

 @FarmerJohn:
Ahhh man ya brought me way back with some of those model names, nicely done!

Awesome to see Danny on a team, hopefully he gets along with the bike nicely... also having him on the same frame as Wyn must be good news for WynTV
  • 2 0
Crazy Danny was fully up to pace and smashing on that nukeproof dissent all off season. Hes so good though be just as quick on the GT.
  • 3 0
Two World Champs and World Cup wins you'd hope he get a ride.

Go watch gastovlog on YouTube, now to see how he's getting on

I love seeing still shots of Danny, his body position and style is flawless in the frozen frame!

Glad Danny has a home, glad Continental has a race team, and glad GT is racing! Talk about a rollercoaster for all!

There was a bright yellow gt with a monster helmeted rider at Dyfi on Saturday and I wondered if it might have been DH..
  • 1 0
Is that the one he is using in Braytons new video?
  • 3 0
 Who'ed guessed that one?
  • 2 0
Damn, was hoping i'd get the call instead. Oh well, good luck Danny.
  • 4 2
Team Rumors really missed the boat on this one
  • 1 0
Does he still get to keep the Nukeproof he had with the team before they swapped to GT?
  • 2 0
adam brayton just uploaded a video , i think it was a frame of adam , the one danny was using
  • 1 0
 Great stuff.
He’s got great media pull too. Adam Brayton mentioned gastovlog views a higher on content Danny is in.

Dyfi video almost made me sick. The speeds they were charging down those tracks nearly gave me motion sickness. Absolutely unreal. When he’s actually riding his bike and not pesting people in car parks he’s actually got decent channel.
  • 2 0
How did Danny Hart not snap off that head tube with balls that big?????
  • 1 0
With Brage hammering GTs, I would not be afraid to pilot one that is for sure. Congrats Danny and co. Go get that course!

 Woohoo!!
