| Canyon became aware of this limited issue months ago and has been working with riders to replace the affected parts at not cost to them, as quickly and efficiently as possible. Once we identified this issue, we immediately halted production of affected models and simultaneously began manufacturing a new set of chainstays with relocated and reinforced welds to increase durability.
As a result of our direct to consumer business model, we were able to directly contact each individual customer who had purchased a Spectral within the affected batch. At that time, we informed them that we would replace their existing chainstays with the new and updated version and advised that they suspend riding immediately.
After receiving the new chainstays, customers were given multiple options for installation with reimbursement for fees incurred, ranging from home installation to taking the bike into a local shop to, in the US, scheduling installation with their local Velofix franchise. To date, Canyon US has sent out new chainstays to 100% of Spectral owners with serial numbers within the affected range.— Canyon Biycles |

Also Canyon covered the shipping cost both ways...not bad.
@DirtheadNY that is seriously impressive!
@underhawk: Whoosh
Glad to see bike companies taking responsibility for safety in the production of their bikes, and not just blaming riders for being to rough on their bikes.
I've rewarded this excellent service with more custom
Good luck folks!!
and we're not even talking about one single customer having to replace 2 frames and one swingarm.
who would've thought a company called "Evil" could cause so much grief.
@ybsurf: pretty sure this won't cost anything for the consumer
I could have probably avoided this by going back to the store I bought the bike at (under consumer guarantee act) but that is 300km away.
On the 4th crack they offered me a 2019 bike!
Bikes are getting so pricey now..
Maybe like car dealers. lbs, supported by manufacturers.. Could offer a curtesy bike while customers are being serviced/repaired/or warrentied
Ha velofix.
I’m pretty sure any bike mechanic that can handle the logistics of franchising an expensive business, getting a van etc. Is not actually the guy you want working on your bike.
Then to re torque them properly.
The specially trained lbs staff should be paid minimum 100/hr for that type of work.
However, if you know for a FACT that they were just slacking off and that's the reason for the delay, then by all means get a free install.
Manufactured In: China
That would make for a very bad day. :'(
As an aside, could we refrain from using the phrase "reach out to" in place of "contact" or "find out more from?"
Everybody is using overly sympathetic HR speak these days for no reason at all.
Sadly we do not have laws, that protect the customer to this extent, so you can wait many weeks for replacement part.
Pffttttt..... hah!
But your story has served as a good warning not to trust anything from Canyon because if a guy like that is on their team...
"They sent an email regarding this issue back at the end of June, then shipped a replacement chainstay back in August, and offered to reimburse up to $80 worth of labor from a bike shop to replace that part."
If you check the American Internet bro ft conversion chart that works out about real world 5ft so he may have a point.
*just jokeing downhillr3*

The value for money at Canyon is just outstanding.
My experience with Canyon bikes is very positive. They handled the replacement of the chainstay very well. Just got a new one by Mail and replaced it myself. No waiting time.
Where does everybody poop out there? Do the shitters have baby changing platforms?? Mega impact, maybe it should be moved indoors, say dodger stadium.
Anyway it called red bull compromise for a reason.
Zink crushes the interview portion of the compromise.
Meanwhile that Brit goes home without a gun and no one dies in Britain today.
lots of people running around saying bang bang but no one dies.
Damn if the brits only had guns they could have gun violence too.
But hey, freedom isn't free.
Canyon, you’ve earned a non-customer for life!
Also big hate on the more expense brands but for years I've worked with almost only Santa Cruz and never seen a pivot wear our or a single problem from them
