Tippie checks out the newest mountain bike products at the 2018 Sea Otter Classic, but only gives the brands 30 seconds to tell him what they've been up to and why it's awesome. Can they do it?
Ok Mr President you have 30 seconds: Hello everybody, this is my new Ellsworth Power ok? It is very strong, very powerful, lots, looots of terrific travel. Now, the fork and big shock runs on real American oil, drilled by very good, hard working people in Texas ok? Wide wide handlebars very wide and beatiful very narrow grip shifts. Three different Stars and Stripes paint jobs, best wheelsize. Research and Design by NASA tested by our best US Marine pilots, war hearoes, space class alloys and composites and steels and titanium, the best Tai-tain-ium! , terrific, and we spent billions and billions and billions and Billions on making it happen.
Thank you Brett, thank you, it’s been beatiful talking to you
"worlds safest helmet" yeah..... You can't say that. Like you actually aren't allowed to make that claim.... How does @troyleedesigns and @kaliprotectives and @smithhelmets feel about that?
And Norco just ripped off Canfield, but with 100 more feet of chain.
@livehardrideharder Speaking for Troy Lee Designs, we have never claimed that statement, nor would we say that publicly-we strive for our own benchmarks and certifiable benchmarks and go above and beyond those. We test our helmets in the lab against our own previous models as well as the competition and do not put a product to market until we see it do things better than the rest, but no one should make that claim as you said-it seems wild to hear someone say that actually.
@stikmanglaspell: Yeah, not the first time I have heard 6D make some wild statements. Not to bash on them too hard, they really are trying to do good things.... but they love to make claims and then get SUPER defensive when you ask the hard questions. I have attempted interviewing them twice. Once was bad, really bad. The guy just kept repeating "we wouldn't have the best athletes if our helmets weren't the best" to answer EVERY question of mine. Granted, he was a field marketing guy who probably didn't know the answers.
The other time was for a research project and I spoke with them at interbike. The answer to any questions that they couldnt spin to sound good was "we dont really think that matters" and that was the response to 7 of my 12 questions.... yikes.
Im definitely a biased KALI fan, but my support from TLD for several years made me appreciate TLDs people, culture, and involvement with the sport. I just wish someone could blend Kali's passion for safety with TLD's great style.
And just because I have to say it in EVERY helmet related conversation: MIPS is snakeoil B.S. Easy to market and profit from, but for all sense of practicality, its useless 99% of the time (figuratively speaking, not a reference to quantified data).
Yey Tippie I liked this, but did not make me want to buy anything, Worst quote would be FSA cranks that will fit any bb, So 30mm axel will fit shimano bb & they will fit my Fat bike? Not!
Thank you Brett, thank you, it’s been beatiful talking to you

Figures or it didn't happen. please
