Bike Check: Aaron Gwin's Intense M29 FRO

Jan 23, 2019
by Richard Cunningham

Now that it's official news that the new Intense Factory Team will be Aaron Gwin, Neko Mulally, and Jack Moir, we can show you the M29 FRO that Gwin will be racing this year. As you can imagine, Gwin has been testing sizes and setups in the off season and one of the more surprising discoveries (for both Gwin and us) was that all three will be racing the XL sized frame. Moir, who has had the most time on the M29, is already height challenged, and actually runs a 40 millimeter rise handlebar, with an additional 20 millimeters of spacers under the fork crown. Gwin, on the other hand is the shortest of the trio, so his setup is quite the opposite, with the smallest headset spacer he can run and 30 millimeter rise Renthal Fatbar.

Gwin says the big wheels, and corresponding longer wheelbase they create, make the XL feel "pretty long" and that Intense is working on a special linkage that will shorten the chainstay length to snap up its handling.

Gwin says he likes almost everything about the smaller size large (which he has traditionally chosen for competition). "It pedals better, I can pump off of everything, and it corners better," says Gwin. "But when I am pushing hard down the steeper sections, I feel like I am pushed forward on the large. The XL feels a little long, but it's going to be better on the World Cups."
California Gold
The current paint scheme will be changed to this in the near future. Jeff Steber says Gwin chose the the grey tone from a Porsche he liked.

Other than setups, the team are reportedly all on production M29s, and Gwin brought almost all of his key component sponsors with him. The glaring exception is that Kenda is the team's tire sponsor this season. All of the riders' bikes, including Aaron's, were fitted with Hellkat Pro tires on both ends, That said, however, Gwin has reportedly had contractual agreements with his tire suppliers that allow him to ride another brand until that maker can supply competitive rubber. Still, it has to be awkward that another brand is selling his signature Aquila tire design.

California Gold
John Hall, Gwin's mechanic, spoke highly of last season's carbon E*Thirteen LG1r DH wheels and says they're even stronger this year. Tires are Kenda Hellkats with dual-ply casings.

TRP collaborated with Gwin to perfect their four-pot brakes and this year, they have outfitted the team with a production version of the shift lever and rear derailleur that Aaron and Neko were race testing during their 2018 season with YT.

TRP's seven-speed transmission drives a tiny e*thirteen 9 by 21 tooth cassette, which allows Aaron to run a smaller chainring without eroding his top speed.

TRP's shift pod looks like its in production now.

Big, 223-millimeter brake rotors to compensate for 29-inch wheels.

That's big news in itself, but there's more. TRP recognizes that larger diameter wheels put more stress on the brakes, so they developed larger, 223-millimeter rotors with aluminum centers to keep the weight to a minimum, Gwin's bike had them on the front and rear wheels.

INtense m29
Gwin prefers the Fox Float X2 shock. Cranks are carbon e*Thirteen.

Intense Factory Racing will be supported by Fox suspension. The 49 fork is standard equipment for all and to keep the XL size bike as low as possible, Gwin's stanchion tubes are raised 15 millimeters above the crowns. Gwin and Mulally both will use the Fox X2 RVS air-sprung damper, while Moir prefers the DPX coil shock. Gwin remarked that the M29's rear suspension felt so good that it made him think whether any of his previous DH bikes ever performed well. It will be interesting to see how he does with the Intense as the season progresses.

Number plates are a professional touch. Gwin prefers Renthal's recently released 30-millimeter rise Fatbar and jokingly says he cuts it down to 797 millimeters wide. Drew Ruiz photo

There are a lot of smaller items that deserve mention, like Gwin's new lock-on grips, the SDG saddle, and anodized titanium hardware from wheel to wheel. I especially liked the dedicated rear mud guard and number plate. The Intense M29 was favorably reviewed recently by Paul Aston on Pinkbike in the XL size, so if you are curious about its finer points, like geometry and handling, I'd suggest you give it read.

In case you were wondering, none of the three riders will be taking 27.5-inch M16's to the World Cups this season. Intense Factory Racing is on 29ers for life. Drew Ruiz photo

29" wheels + 223mm rotors + Gwins top speed = gravity fields able to open wormholes to other dimensions. Gwin starts MSA in 2019 and finishes first place on planet XH415 in 2175.

@mizzter-b: TRP had a handful of rotors with CNC machined spiders there, while Gwin's were production items, which leads me to believe that the 223 rotors are pre-production, but right around the corner.

someone missed the calculations and used 27,5" instead of 26" as the rotors should be 225mm... next season maybe...
  • 2 0
@mizzter-b: I'm not sure about the TRP rotors but Hope has a 225 available and Galfer has a 223. Sram also has some 220 floating around but I dont know if they're available for purchase. We had a set come thru the shop last summer for one of our racer's bikes.
  • 2 3
The only reason trp need those rotors is because their rotors produce the same friction as a Teflon disk.
  • 1 0
@mizzter-b: 223mm will be available to the public at some point this year I think.

If the XL is already good for Gwin, they will soon release the XXXL for Moir. And hopefully they'll send an XXXXXL to PB so that Paul Aston can do a review. The XL must have been a BMX for Paul.
  • 4 0
I know the M29 is brand new but im just curious how long its going to be, for Gwin to help redesign an entirely new DH bike haha given his track record with literally every single other brand hes ever ridden for... We will see if he doesnt do as well this season, and then will have them design a new bike for the 2020 season and he will be winning again. Seems to be the cycle
  • 2 0
A lot of shorter riders all seem to be going to the XL frames. I think I saw someone on trek was also going for the XL who was not super tall. Just the trends.
  • 5 0
@qman11: Doubt he will be re-designing the M29 given it was developed by Steber with Caesar Rojo and input from the IFR riders last year... probably just custom linkage for shorter rear-end for Gwin.
  • 1 0
@kiddlivid: reece wilson, but his bike has headset cups that shorten the reach a bit. He is about 175cm. 5' 9
  • 1 0
It's worth nothing there's still significant variations in reach for what a brands XL is...the session 29 is 461mm (doesn't seem too crazy for wilson), the M29 is 480...while the Supreme 29 is a hearty 495.
  • 1 0
@qman11: Im betting he fits like a glove with this bike. But only time will tell.
  • 1 0
Jack must want a reach bigger than 480.
  • 2 0
@mizzter-b: I was kidding a bit, of course. It isn't about absolute length only. Jack may be taller than Aaron, but due to his posture on his bike he may not stretch out proportionally more. That said, I trust he, his coach and other team support will be able to figure that out themselves. Though of course the PB comment section will be here and ready for them whenever they need some advice.
  • 1 1
@vinay: he just looks cramped to me and he wouldn’t be the first racer stuck with riding a bike that’s too small because it’s the biggest the manufacturer makes.
  • 1 0
@mizzter-b: Well yeah, that's a really good point. I'm about 6ft tall and until recently I rode a DMR with about 375mm reach. Back when I bought it (over ten years ago) I just wanted the longest frame I could get for my money but didn't want a seat tube longer than 16". From pictures I noticed that the riding position I had adopted was way too curled. Last spring I got a new frame with an equally short seat tube but with 460mm reach (same bars though 35mm stem instead of 50mm) and it feels spot on now. Pretty hard to believe though if even though Jack has been their top DH athlete for the past couple of years, they wouldn't have tried to put him on a longer test mule just to check whether it is worth it.
  • 1 0
@vinay: minnaar had to wait longer!
  • 1 0
@mizzter-b: Yeah, but i don't really know what kind of production SC has in house. Jeff could just weld up some (steel) front triangle mule with two or three headtubes with 40mm increments in reach to get a rough idea of where to go next.

@dh-corn: haha Gwin has a pattern man! Pretty sure he did it with Yeti when they switched the rail design from the 303rdh to the 303wc vertical rail system... He helped completely redesign the session 9.9 when that came out, Worked to redesign the demo when he was on specialized... then again with YT helpign redesign the Tues, and now Intense hahaha In my opinion Gwin seems to be the greatest DH bike development asset in the entire industry, he seems to bring his input to non-podium bikes, and then has them redesigned into wc podium winning machines..

That rear derailleur looks like the product of a drunk night between a XTR M970 MILF and a young SRAM X1...

Now that intense has gwin on board, there’s going to be budget cuts. Firstly, Gwins going to be staying in the nicer hotels at each race venue, while the rest of the team will be sleeping “in tents” ????

If Gwin can win on 29 it will be convincing, but if not then 27 might still be faster for shorter guys. I think he's faster on 27 but we'll see.

  • 3 0
@endlessblockades: Thats all good then as I am about 30.02 off a WC podium so I best stick with my old 26er.

It would be good to back to back test the 3 different sizes as decent Vet (I would consider myself a decent vet, mid pack expert rider) and see what the difference is for a normal rider.
  • 3 2
@ReformedRoadie: Beyond dead. 26 riders are actually zombies now. This includes me with my 2014 Tues which I actually just bought brand new wheels for because I love it so much and probably won't replace for another 2 or 3 years. As a minor complaint, I am having to stockpile tyres now because they are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive in 26" as manufacturers stop making the better ones.
  • 1 0
@cains08: Yeah, that's the main issue about 26", it's getting harder and more expensive to find a decent pair of tires in that size for reasonable money. There is a quite big second hand market, however, one day it will be empty. That's why I decided to give 27.5 a try, cause it's easier to find such things in better price and higher quality. Nevertheless, I keep my 26er because of sentiment, it's a piece of history in it.
  • 1 1
@mihauek: It's crazy how tire and rim companies abandoned the market. I still see as many 26 inch bikes in the lift line at the bike park as I do 27.5. When all these people need is a $50 tire or rim they'll be forced to buy $3000 bikes. I've been stockpiling tires and can get my 26 through a few more seasons. But rim options are dwindling.
  • 1 0
@chriskneeland: Yeah, that's something I don't like about this move. Anyway, you can get a nice discount on some rims and parts fortunately, and if someone owns 26er I would really suggest stockpiling tires for future. If you are not Aaron Gwin riding without a tire, you can survive this hard time of lack of rim options.
  • 1 1
@chriskneeland: Valid point. I don't see Gain pulling off that MSA run in the rain on a 29er. No way.
  • 1 0
@ReformedRoadie: 26+ alive and well. Plenty of rim and tire options still available.

Underrated comment, you’d think engineers would understand these logical things...
  • 8 0
This is the mtb industry, it has to be a "trend". Plus some teams were already running 220mm SRAM rotors last season, but they weren't available for the public.
  • 9 0
Hope have made 225mm rotors since the dawn of time (or the dawn of the 2000's at least).
  • 5 0
Can't wait till we get 420mm rotors. Gotta match the newest mustang
  • 8 9
Shimano has enough power with 203... and good cooling with ice tech rotors and finned pads. They are ahead of the brake game even with their ‘ancient’ Saints. Overrated SRAM brakes defo need big rotors and it seems TRP too.
  • 1 0
Formula had 220 for years.... There are 250 tandem rotors out there... For general public they are no go.... nobody needs them unless you weight 250 pounds. The problem is the rotor bends easy.
  • 3 5
I genuinely don't get this bigger rotor on 29ers thing.

If you are traveling at a certain speed on any size wheel, you have a fixed inertia energy regardless of wheel size. Your brake rotor size obviously effects the leverage and moment force, but the moment force of the wheel isn't what you are slowing down, it's the whole system (including rider). It's like the whole 29er bikes accelerate slower myth. They dont, because the bigger wheel's lower rotational acceleration is directly proportional to their increased circumference, and so distance travelled.

As far as I can see, the only reason you might need a bigger rotor with bigger wheels is if YOU were actually going faster. Which the jury is still out on Razz
  • 1 0
@wallheater: tried a hope 225mm disc, was on the bike for 2 months, couldnt get the pads to bed in, back to shimano and good to go.
  • 1 1
@L0rdTom: Then why do motorcycles use massive front Discs? Under hard braking over 80% of the stopping power comes from the front wheel. The rear acts more for modulation, and "throttle" control / stand up / layover techniques at various speeds. It's definitely a moto trick.. that can be carried over to MTB's. I do it all the time on super steep stuff.
  • 3 1
@L0rdTom: So in the end you dont understand squat about gear ratios and why most powered vehicles have gears...
  • 4 1
@L0rdTom: The system has a fixed inertia, but the wheel itself has a higher moment of inertia because the weight is farther from the hub. In order to reduce inertia in the system, you have to slow the rotational inertia, which is proportional to the radius of the wheel. I=mr^2
  • 1 1
@Yourworstnightmare: the whole system is heavier and going faster, therefore more leverage and heat dissipation is required

@FCX250: Gears for piston engines are just about keeping the engine in it's ideal rpm range. Not really relevant here.

@fprince: I is only the moment of inertia, and half the story. Of course, rotational momentum = I . w

In essence, a bigger wheel with a set torque applied to it (through gravity or the drivetrain) has a higher moment of inertia, and a directly proportionally lower angular velocity, resulting in the same rotational momentum.

A 100kg system at a given velocity has a set inertia, and how much of that belongs in the wheel or in the rider is irrelevant. As far as I can see, the only ways 29ers need more braking torque is if the whole system is heavier, or travelling faster.
  • 1 0
@L0rdTom: A lot of it is how feels on the bike and not how physics say it should feel. What I've come to find is the added speed and traction of 29 wheels easily overpowers 180mm rotors with metallic pads.
  • 1 0
@L0rdTom: Buy a 29er and see how fast you arrive at some corners.....
  • 1 0
It totally makes sense if you are going faster. I am quite convinced that the main thing keeping me from needing bigger rotors isn't my smaller wheels, but just pulling the skid triggers waaaaaay too early!
  • 1 0
@L0rdTom: You can brake harder on 29 because the bb is below the axles and you drive the bike in to the ground as you brake, and they have more traction in general. Remember back in the 26” days? Dh bikes had 2 pot brakes and nobody complained, even a basic set felt like it would put you otb, brakes on 29ers by comparisum feel muted, big 4 pot setups are the norm now even on trail bikes.

They feel like shit slacked out regardless of seat angle.. having recently moved to an area with lots of pumping and jumping I’m digging 27.5.. maybe LT 27.5 is just a nice stepping block / learning curve to LT 29ers..
  • 7 1
29's feel like shit because they numb the trail out and take the fun away. But they are faster. I just wonder how long till it's like OMG 32" wheels are even faster and easier to ride, lets make those! Hopefully there's a UCI rule that calls out a max wheel size because I sure as hell hope I am never forced to move up to a 29" because that's what the pro's run to find millaseconds. 27.5 is way more fun. My .02
  • 3 0
Yes let's just gloss over the fact that TRP are making a drive train now . As Is Box and Sun Race I like competition it breeds innovation.
  • 1 0
I wonder what Paul Aston thinks of this, the smaller bike rides better? ""Gwin says he likes almost everything about the smaller size large (which he has traditionally chosen for competition). "It pedals better, I can pump off of everything, and it corners better," says Gwin. "But when I am pushing hard down the steeper sections, I feel like I am pushed forward on the large, the XL feels a little long, but it's going to be better on the World Cups." "
  • 1 1
Is Gwin the same height as Aston? Yet he still wants to race the largest one possible, I don´t know what more you want to hear.
  • 1 0
@Mondbiker: He straight up says the smaller size rides better and is more fun, but because of WC tracks he is on the XL. Aston basically always says, longer, lower, slacker, steep st angle, but Gwin is saying longer ain't always better. Right bike for the right uses. Something Pinkbike editors, and you, don't seem to get.
  • 1 1
@brappjuice: He never said anything about fun and if person who should be riding Medium by most manufacturers recommendations chooses to run XL it says a lot, that is something you don´t seem to get.
  • 1 0
@Mondbiker: You don't seem to get it. He flat out says the smaller size is what he would prefer to ride, but on WC tracks he sizes up, prbly for stability at speed. There's no industry conspiracy trying to get people on the wrong size of bike you nut.
  • 1 1
@brappjuice: there was industry conspiracy trying to put you on wrong size for over 20years you nut...Fitting longer stem to a bike doesn´t make the bike any bigger FYI. If he opted for XL, he prefers it for the riding he is doing, end of debate. If guy who is what ,175cm tall in reality(?) rides XL with 480mm reach on a frickin DH bike it shows you how many people are riding bikes too small.
  • 1 0
@Mondbiker: No there wasn't, it was the natural progression of bike design moving from the repack days into modern bikes. A lot was learned, there wasn't a conspiracy. You thinking he prefers the XL is plain ignorant, shows you know nothing about the modern DH courses they are riding. Sounds to me like he prefers the L but because of how modern DH courses are turning into motorways he has to size up to the XL. "It pedals better, I can pump off of everything, and it corners better" Straight up says it right there. Go home.
  • 1 0
@brappjuice: jesus christ, is it really hard to grasp that he prefers what he actually is going to use? He might prefer L for going to shops, for his riding he PREFERS XL. That s what is also mentioned there, I don´t know how it makes sense that L feels better for cornering, pumping and pedaling, yet he still opts for XL, must men he rides down all those tracks in straight line, no pedaling no nothing, Get a clue mate, there is a lot of BS in PB articles, this is one of them.

 mech looks chunky
  • 5 1
Wow, talk about coming out of nowhere!
  • 3 0
Maybe they could invent a telescopic remote on-the-fly chain-stay for Gwins bike.
  • 3 3
Already on the last press release I wondered about the sizing of his bike compared to the big boys. I think it is a bit crazy that he prefers the XL and honestly, I don‘t understand the physics behind his explaination (I feel the opposite). But he is a reflective person and knows what is best for him...
  • 2 0
He did mention a short rear swing arm is coming though...
  • 9 2
@jamesdunford: Short rear swing arm, special linkage, then in the next paragraph, "the team are reportedly all on production M29s." Suuure.
  • 2 0
How you feel does not always correlate to how fast your going
  • 31 1
@skelldify: The new linkage that Jeff and I wanna try will shorten the stock rear end about 5mm. Don't know if I'll like it better but we wanna try it cause we can. The other boys are a lot taller than me so I'm pretty sure they won't change anything. At the moment we are all on production bikes so it's accurate. Why is there always some negative assumed, know your facts. Oh wait, this is the internet.. carry on!
  • 1 0
Don't worry about comparing yourself to Gwin. What applied to him has little to do with you.
  • 6 1
@AaronGwin1: criticism is easy and cheap, unfortunately. I’m super stoked for your team, Intense, and even Kenda. Everyone can wisecrack about it, but helping any brand become relevant and competitive is a win for all of us. Can’t wait for the season to begin!
  • 2 1
@AaronGwin1: i can see great things coming for you with this new team! all the best and you have the sexiest team bike no doubt!
  • 1 0
 @skelldify:
"Gwin remarked that's the m29 rear suspension felt so good it made him think whether his previous dh bike ever performed well"
Then he'll for sure win 2019 WC .... I wonder if I should keep watching the Live events now
  • 2 0
Is that a clear frame protector? I don't see why he really bothers with it. Surely it won't be long before he gets a new custom frame. Maybe just for the off season.
  • 4 1
And just like that Kenda Tyres are going to be on alot of peoples "must have" shopping list for the new season
  • 3 0
Intense doesn't have stock of this bike on their website, and they are direct to consumer...bit of a mislaunch?
  • 2 0
Kind of like YT launching an actual bike and it being out of stock from the start. I do agree, though, that this seems to be a missed opportunity and there are not too many opportunities one can pass up with when the payroll is high and investors expect a return.
  • 2 1
@RCederholm: that’s weird because every time YT launched, there were plenty in stock...
  • 4 2
Since he's got a taste of that VPP, it's only a matter of time before he goes over to the dark side of the SYNDICATE... to be continued...
  • 3 1
That matte gray is so played out..focus rs, Tacoma, Porsche, Bronson, ..anyways new paint looks like the subrosa slayer 26" bmx
  • 1 0
but it will match his goggles
  • 3 3
"Intense is working on a special linkage that will shorten the chainstay length to snap up its handling"

"Other than setups, the team are reportedly all on production M29s"

Last I checked, linkage is part of the frame. If he's running a special custom linkage, then he's not on a production frame.
  • 2 4
And is it just me or is the m16 basically a v-10 and the m29 basically a devinci wilson? I guess that is better than looking like a session....
  • 1 0
@splsce: The M16 and V10 look similar because Intense and SC shared the patent for the VPP design. They were very similiar bikes. The M29 and Wilson don't seem to have much in common though with the Wilson using the traditional Vinci Split pivot design and the Intense still using a variation of the VPP.
  • 1 0
@sino428: That’s true looks similar with that rocker around the bottom bracket, but the solid rear triangle vs the split pivot is obviously different
  • 1 1
Maybe they'll release said linkage later on. Last i saw one it's a forged CNC alloy part underneath the BB, it'd be pretty simple to swap out
  • 1 0
So this new Intense is better than any bike ever made before it? According to Gwin. Interesting... Can't wait for the season to begin so we can see if any riders move up that moved teams.
  • 3 0
....if you hit 88mph, you can get back to 27.5 wheel sizes. But you need 650b of gigga watts to make that happen.
  • 3 0
Love it! Good luck to the team for 2019.
  • 2 1
This looks like it’s gonna be a great year for Intense. Jeff Steber and Intense are iconic in DH and now he’s got the perfect team!
  • 2 1
I was hoping for this! ‘What if Gwin and Intense teamed up?’, I wondered. ‘How cool would that be!?’

Rooting for you guys! I think you already won.
  • 1 1
Why run a smaller chainring? Increased antisquat and pedal kick (most likely) doesn’t sound too great on a downhill bike. If you want the thing to pedal better than run a bigger chainring so it’s more neutral
  • 1 0
Only thing I can think of is more clearance?! Is the bike that low?
  • 4 0
I agree w/ what a bigger ring does. At the same time, I think a few of these dudes have proven you don’t need a monster gear (or chain) to go fast on the DH circuit at their level.
  • 2 0
@frameworksusa: I don’t particularly think these dudes are in need of a big gear for that reason, I think once you’re at a speed to justify it for pedaling, you’re going too fast over stuff too rough to use it. It just provides more active suspension and less fatigue in your legs over a rough track
  • 3 0
It’s like a circus fire on Pinkbike today.
  • 3 0
Shouldn't he be, like, riding his own signature tires?
  • 2 1
So, why is he running the xl if he has to get custom linkages made so it fits him? And a negative reach adjust? Seems counter-intuitive.
  • 2 0
Seems a few sub 6" riders are doing this going into the season.
  • 5 2
Why he look so angry all the time?
  • 4 1
 because he is underpaid.

flag dkidd (Jan 23, 2019 at 8:20) (Below Threshold)

So its rear changer now and not rear derailleur?

 New standard.

I bet the contract with Kenda allows them to race other tires too!
  • 3 1
 223 rotors!! Next up is 300, 306!
  • 2 0
The larger rotors do make sense though
  • 2 0
Yeah, great news !!! But what's the total weight of the GwinM29 ??
  • 1 0
 Looks like a demo/unno/Norco but not a session.....defo don’t look like a session
  • 1 0
For sure Aaron Gwin will show us some new chainless skills with such a transmission...
  • 1 0
BRENDAN FAIRCLOTH IS ALSO ON TRP'S NEW DRIVETRAIN AND BRAKES! *INSIDER KNOWLEDGE*
  • 2 0
So's Dean Lucas... two teams at least running that this year.
  • 2 3
Goodluck, I hope you bring the same success like you had at YT! Intense bikes historically looks great, but that's about it. Pretty sure with you'll bring design changes to make them fast as they look good!
  • 3 0
LOL what? They ride amazing as well
  • 1 0
Gwin b like; hair. checked, shoes. checked, gloves(left right). CHECK!

  • 3 2
 Ohhh... shocking news

who would have predicted AG and Neko to Intense ?
  • 1 0
How does 29" wheels make the wheelbase longer?
  • 1 0
Longer chainstays to fit the bigger wheels I guess?
  • 1 0
So awesome to see Gwin back on an American brand!! Go Gwinner!!
  • 4 3
Bike looks too big for Gwinnie. Needs that M16.
  • 1 0
@headshot But he sits in the bike not on the bike, it's a 29er remember!
  • 8 1
Word on the street is that Intense are going to give him a custom soap box at the start gates to use to step onto the bike Razz
  • 1 0
In fairness, he's good at slinging around a moto, so probably doesn't even notice.
  • 2 1
Neeko's bike seems longer, XXL or some sort of reach adjuster?
  • 5 0
Gwin has reversed reach adjust headset, Moir and Neko habe it in normal position, so longer, was in another article, think on Vital
  • 3 0
Looks like the team is using Works headsets to adjust reach for the different riders. Suppose you get 14mm of adjustment if you go from offset all the way back to all of the way forward - quite a bit.
  • 2 0
 Neeeeeecko

 Does the " M " stand for Missile ?
  • 3 5
Mister gwinn does not look very happy in the picture. Would think otherwise if got contracted by intense and finaly tell. Maybe he did not get a million dollar contract or does not like his bike. Time will tell.
  • 5 1
maybe he's just miserable... maybe he has resting bitch face and is perfectly happy.

 M29 For Race Only?

I remember those FRO tires. They seemed like they were 4 ply, and you almost needed a 2x4 to pry them onto your rims.
  • 2 0
@Leppah: I remember the Intense branded moto tire levers that they sold as well to help pry them off.

I love Intenses soft product placement on PB in last two days Smile
  • 3 4
Can we make them race Champerey on these wagons in the mud? I need a good laugh
  • 5 1
I think they’d be the ones having a laugh being on bikes that actually fit them and not feeling like going over the bars 24/7
  • 1 1
Watching them ride bikes with more grip is funny?
  • 1 1
@gdawg: Yes, proper cornering and body position is hilarious.
  • 1 0
 I said "in the mud".
Granted, now that I think about it. Champerey WC track is pretty bike parked out these days I bet? I remember seeing pics & vids within the last few years of everybody and their brother pinning it down it.

Or is it still the most gnar?

Bikes have changed a bit during the interim of that event, but the riders were every bit as skilled. Matter of fact, several are still on the circuit that barely it made it down that thing.

  • 4 0
Maybe start by learning to spell his name? Only four letters, shouldn’t be too tricky. Wink
  • 1 2
@BiNARYBiKE: lol, maybe I should have checked the spelling yes... Posted on my mobile device at the time Razz
  • 1 0
@HairyLegs: I’d say a good half of the commenters spell it with two N’s. I figure if they can’t even spell his name, they probably don’t have much insight into his new deal.
