Doe Mountain Recreation Area, Mountain City, TNTrail Type: Flow
Sponsor: Sorba-Tri Cities
The Doe Mountain Recreation Area is planning a mountain biking mecca on hundreds of acres of dedicated space. The plan for mountain biking includes several miles of beginner trail and will serve as an entrance to the main mountain biking complex. The first beginner trail is under construction. The second part features construction of a flow trail on “Flow Mountain.” This trail will be the centerpiece of the project, one that immediately gives the visitors to the DMRA a reason to come back!

Holiday Valley Ski Resort Trail, Ellicottville, NYTrail Type: Flow
Sponsor: Western New York Mountain Biking Association (WNYMBA)
The proposed project is a 2-mile flow trail from the summit of Holiday Valley Ski Area to the lodge near the Sky High Adventure Park. It would be intended to be the first phase of a larger program to develop more fun and sustainable trails at the Holiday Valley Ski Area to complement the existing cross country trail network in the adjacent state forest. Mountain biking always has, and will remain, free to the public at Holiday Valley. Currently, the top of the area is bike accessible by a gated road (part paved, part gravel), and also by a longer cat-track access road and singletrack loop. The top of the area is also accessible by car for shuttling runs.

Richmond Regional Ride Center, Richmond, VATrail Type: Flow
Sponsor: RVA MORE
This project will seek to rehabilitate 15 miles of existing mountain bike trail and construct an additional 20 miles of trail. The goal is to incorporate approximately 15 miles of stacked-loop singletrack, and an additional 5 miles of flow trail which will focus on a progression of difficulty. The project will also focus on improving the existing trails on-site in order to diversify the trails and improve the overall depth of experience within the system. In addition to these singletrack trails, the project seeks to develop a new gateway trail with two loops suitable for novices, children, handcycles, and bicycles pulling child-trailers.

Yellow River Bike Park, Atlanta, GATrail Type: Bike Park
Sponsor: Gwinnett Area Area Trail Riders (GATR SORBA)
Yellow River Park and its trails, features, and facilities has the potential to create an impact in Atlanta and showcase what mountain biking should be. Currently, the park offers a ‘mixed bag’ experience with many miles of wonderful singletrack intertwined with poorly designed and maintained trails offering a low quality riding experience. Improvements to the facility’s trail design and navigation, along with the addition of a skills area and/or pump track could make this a marquee metropolitan destination and potentially open the world of mountain biking to many thousands of local citizens.
