FSA launched
www.oversizebb.com today to promote its Mega Tech bottom bracket standard that like the ISIS design, is open to any component manufacturer. FSA has already designed cutting and installation tools in addition to providing BB shells in 6000 and 7000 series aluminum, cromoly and titanium. The Mega Tech is based around a 50mm BB shell (as opposed to today's 42mm standard) with bearings pressed into the shell (a la BMX). This allows for a larger bearing and spindle design with many benefits such as increased stiffness, durability, strength and lighter weight. FSA is touting the new standard for XC, Road and Track bike use, while DH and freeride use almost seems a given. No word yet on how the industry is accepting Mega Tech, but we'll try to get the scoop from FSA at Interbike.
