Video: Yoann Barelli & Remy Metailler Return for Another Attempt at a Huge Send

Apr 15, 2021
by Rémy Métailler

Yoann Barelli and I are back to tackle that rock to rock drop. It looks small in videos and photos but it is quite intimidating! Yoann is obviously a master for that kind of riding and has seen the feature many times, but did not feel like he had it.

For episode 3, he wanted to go back and ride it!

Yoann, next time you approach such a drop, just say "REMY20" and it will be 20% easier Wink

 best comment ever!

Just wanted to add that I have a huge respect for both guys, subscribe their YT channels and this comment was just meant to be funny, not offensive in any way.
  • 78 1
@lkubica: No offence taken! Actually laugh real hard.

 Seven-baguette-ride fo’ sure.

Let's face it. MTB is expensive. I genuinely take advantage on all of Remy's discounts. He's got so many different ones, and every little bit helps. Thanks for the discounts, Remy!!!

Ya'll at pinkbike do realize we can just see every video on their youtube channels right? It's nice that you post every video in the home page feed though...

@Jordmackay: @Jordmackay: This style of riding is probably more technical than anything you will ever do. It is about progressing as safely as possible. Sometimes just looking and sending is faster and easier, but it's also how you can get hurt. These guys are doing less experienced riders a favor and showing us how they approach a feature they've never hit before.
  • 12 0
@Jordmackay: don't listen to the haters here I agree with you. Let's get out there next weekend, you hit this drop blind and I'll film you. We'll show everyone.

Thank you for letting us in on the process Yoann and not editing out the build up. Super helpful and much appreciated
  • 4 0
 Yes absolutely great.
  • 43 0
these guys are putting out some of the best freeride content at the moment IMO
  • 3 0
Yep, although they should change the name to "Nope Train". Flat out nuttery from these 2 golden bros.
  • 3 0
Copy that, "So Pooomped" - you can't help but smile while watching their vids, and they make English sound so good

Fun and inspirational - they bring the stoke every day!

I find these videos far more entertaining than a three minute shredit where everything goes easily. Riding difficult features relative to your skill level takes work. These videos really capture that process. Keep the content coming!
  • 19 2
Wow, Remy is such a nice guy. Putting on Yoann's gear, full face and dark googles and riding his bike so he could do that drop and make it look like Yoann did it. Such a good guy. Hehe, totally joking of course.

I hope both their sponsors support them riding and recording together. GG has been on my next bike list for a while and watching these helps to keep them there. Propain got on my radar after he PB review and these videos keep me interested in them as well.

Why is a GG on your list? I demo'd a few and they flat-out underperformed. So many other bike brands with better bikes IMO.
  • 11 1
@Pusspussonafullsuss: A better bike can only make the ride better, it does not make you a better rider.
  • 5 1
@Pusspussonafullsuss: Ask Yoann how to setup and ride a GG. Smile
  • 2 0
 @Pusspussonafullsuss: How did they underperform?
  • 1 0
 @Simann: definitely

So good. I may be reaching here but I feel like the humility that these guys exude in their riding and conversation about risks could/should be spreading through the mountain bike community at large. Accidents are real, risks/rewards are real, and humility in entertaining these lines ought to be top of mind for influencers like these.....

People who throw around terms like "difficult sends" have clearly never tried to figure out the Harmonized Commodity Codes to put on your commercial invoice where you are sending, say, prototype medical device components, not for clinical use, from your lab in Vancouver to you collaborators in Seattle. If you send that wrong, you could be stuck with "insufficient information for clearance" for a week.
  • 4 0
 Hate it when that happens
  • 12 3
Been following Remy for a while now, the kid is so humble and puts out excellent videos. Keep it going brother.
  • 1 0
 Time for a bonus
  • 4 0
Hey guy’s, just so you know that I’m following you both and I’m stoke by what you’re doing! Even with the french accent, it’s well explain. I’m hoping that one day, I’ll see u guy’s up somewhere in Squamish and maybe have a epic ride with you.
Continuer votre beau travail les gars. C’est du solide!
As always... soyer prudent!
Un de vos fan!
Cheers

Everyone should have a friend like Yoann...life would just be that bit nicer!
  • 6 0
It's kinda soothing to see that Pros undergo the same insecurities and mental challenges as oneself before hitting an intimidating new feature.
  • 2 0
Yep, helps with self confidence too as our average intimidating feature appears all relative after seeing a video like this.
  • 5 0
These guys are putting together some of the best Youtube mtb videos. They have even managed to make POV relevant again. Keep them coming!!

Legendary! How many baguettes is that drop?
  • 1 0
lol, at least a 12 baguette drop. The banter between the two is awesome.
  • 4 0
Oh man I was feeling that one. Yeah Yoann, nice work!!
  • 2 0
I love to watch these videos from Remy. I actually feel the fear just by watching and trying to realize what the hell they are doing.

 Favourite box set this year.

One thing about Yoan, you always know he's coming
  • 3 0
freaking scary move! glad you got redemption Yo.
  • 3 1
Bourdo would hit this off the couch right now, 3 beers deep on a 26” stinky.
  • 5 1
True, back in the day. Now Bourdo knows better. Getting older, you don't bounce back as fast, but still wanna ride drops. These guys are showing the way.
  • 1 0
God, watching each one of these makes me think I'll be on the headline of every Friday Fail until eternity if I even tried 1% of what these guys are attempting.

Mad skills.
  • 3 0
Skill and big balls...perfect combo for shit like this. Smile
  • 3 0
Yoan and Remy are so complementary. Really love what you do together.
  • 2 0
Love the break down and the fact that you walk away when it's not right.
  • 2 0
Storytelling at the best! Nice work.
  • 2 0
Love you buddy- way to conquer a rare dose of fear!
  • 2 0

  • 1 0

  • 2 0
Best video i have seen in long time. Interesting, funny, inteligent.
  • 2 0
Wow. Mountain bike videos have changed SO much since the 90's.
  • 2 1
Glad it's not just my codes that sound like that
  • 2 2
Why people, especially pros put up with this is beyond me. I have run Guide RS and RSC for 4+ years without geese mating (unless in pouring rain). Just get some Galfer rotors and some non-SRAM pads. Silent Power all day.
  • 3 0
@suspended-flesh: Same, Galfer wave rotors and Galfer pads in my Guide RS and that made a world of difference.
  • 2 0
@suspended-flesh: Remy once (maybe even twice) said that he wanted the noise there. Gives him a sense of control and he knows that hte pads are touching.

(I like mine quiet, but I don't drop more than two baguettes ...)
  • 1 0
Unlike Yoann I would have lost my bottle right at the beginning
  • 2 4
Actually, it should be easier for Yoann to jump this, he has always his right foot in front, Remy the left.
  • 5 0
Opposite isn't it? Right foot back- kicking the bike in the air turns it right.
  • 1 1
@DirkMcClerkin: It's more natural for me to have my right foot in front when I want to go to the right and the left foot when I want to go left, like skiing.
  • 4 0
@mactrack: Surely when skiing you have the right ski forward when turning left and vice versa? Pressure on the outside ski?
  • 2 0
@ddmonkey: more pressure doesn't mean more forward.
  • 2 0
@BenPea: I guess so - can you tell I am a snowboarder? Smile
  • 3 0
@ddmonkey: yep Smile it's ok, some of my best friends are snowboarders (even after having pushed them on flat bits).
