I Did Silverstar and Mount washington Last summer. then moved to calgary and found out Fernie, Panorama and Kicking horse were all a stones throw away, so i did those 3 this summer. I only spent a day at those 3, but had the best summer EVER.

i rode the resorts by myself ( which i said i'd never do, i broke my femur at one 10 years ago riding by myself.) so i stuck to all the blue runs. My fav one at kicking horse would have to be "the berm trail" it was smooth and just super nice to ride. i don't like to get AIR and i was getting lots and feeling very comfortable.

i cant watch anything anymore with this new player, and my os is to old to upgrade my flash player. i spend all my spare money on bikes, not computers......

Pinkbike, your new player doesn't work for me! I use Safari on my Macbook, and the video always freezes but the sound goes on. I have this problem with nearly every video, since the new player came out!

I have a mac os x version 10.6.8. make sure that all of your software is up to date, restarting your computer does work sometimes. chrome is faster as well, I use both for pinkbike, and they both work fine.

dont bother restarting, quit all the processes related to and including safari (plugins) in activity monitor, then open it up again.

Man I don't know whats going on up there but every sun peaks silver star video I see looks like those guys are hauling %20 more ass than anywhere else something in the water, perfect longitude and lattitude, shots of sex-panther, whats the deal. I've never been up therre but it looks like a blast makes me want to ride

There's a new video player on pinkbike. The layout looks worse than the previous one and there are also some issues using it. Everything works good untill the moment when I turn off the full screen mode and there are no video controls available any more.

I have no controls after turning off the full screen mode. The only way to resume the control is the refresh the web page.
Personally I prefer the previous one. What was so wrong about it, that had to be changed?

Change is progress. I like the new player. It works fine for me on 2 different PC's, an iPhone, and a Macbook pro.

5 minutes of riding footage and not a single root or rock lol. Why they using 8 inch dh bikes! All could be done on a bmx or jump bike. You ride this stuff all the time and massive skill fade will occur. I honestly believe this is why there are no fast Americans except gwin. All your kids ride park! It needs addressing in the sport as a whole. This years world cup had at least 3 crap tracks,even mt st anne was way more smooth than years gone by. Only ft William,val Di sol and andorra were proper tracks this year. Neg prob away if you like.

Just because the vid didn't show gnarly rock gardens or roots doesn't mean guys that ride park don't do it!! it's all about mixing your riding up, most people @ parks ride everything but putting steep gnarly tracks on film does not come over will and often looks very easy on screen, hence why the trend is to film guys boosting jumps. A DH bike will cover you for everything @ a park, a short travel rig will not.

Ref the WC tracks, this is also that the UCI probably wants to broaden the appeal when it is televised to get more people interested in the sport, again steep gnarly tracks often look boring to watch on TV where as guys jumping about looks good for the general public. Probably also factor in the cost to re dig a whole new line on a hill when then can use the bike park sections and save money.

Also if you think those drops on that segment were easy you are nuts!! lol

L....O.....L....Sun peaks has probably the most amazing and gnarly DH trails of any bike park in the world. Yes, better than Whistler people.

Like I said you have one decent us rider and one from Canada. Both great guys and fast as they come. But you gotta ask how the UK with no real mountains can produce 10 guys or so in the top 20 and the fastest woman and in Manon probably the future fastest women. Also in junior men's 4 lads in top 10. If you don't think that's a problem for your riders then that's fine with me lol. And mountain biking is the tiniest of sports in this country with no recognition what so ever. Even the legend peaty is un heard of outside the sport which is a travesty imo. Just think for as a rider its not impressive to watch this stuff over and over. Not saying it ain't fun or good to watch. Just think its what's holding the development of next generation back.

I think maybe the main difference is that growing up in BC many of us looked up to riders like Darren Berrecloth, Wade Simmons, and all those freeride legends. Whereas maybe in UK you were looking up to maybe Steve Peat, Nico, more race oriented guys. The emphasis for most us is to go out and have the most fun possible, push our riding, and send it from time to time. I think many of us aren't interested in beating the clock, but instead having maximum fun on our bikes with our buddies. Just a slightly different bike culture around here than maybe where you are from.

Could be right with that answer. Still would like to see those 2 countries in particular to produce the fast guys and girls your mountains deserve. Must admit I've never really got into the slope style stuff. Kinda like circus tricks which look much better on bmx than the big wheels.

@mikelee i think the reason we have less racers in the WC is the fact that there is only one race in North America. It takes a lot of work and money to go fly around the other side of the world for a few months. Also I'm guessing you haven't rode in the US / Canada much or you would know that our bike parks aren't just flat jumpy trails. @johnny-W has it right people like to see big jumps so that's what makes it into movies.

^^^^ Bingo. And where exactly are American racers supposed to get the points to qualify for a WC? The lack of quality regional race series is also an issue.
