Getta Grip came free with an issue of MBUK back in the mid-nineties. Featuring old school full suspension bikes, long, sketchy rock face descents and a healthy dose of trials riding, this trip back in time is worth a watch.
We are starting to run out of films for these Old School Throwbacks. We have a few weeks of this left to run, but we're getting close to the bottom of YouTube. So if you have any suggestions or finds, please let us know. The rough rules for choosing one of these videos are that it has to be old enough to have been on VHS and it has to be at least 20 minutes long (although it can be in several parts). If you don't know what VHS means, please don't bother sending us anything.
How about Pulp Traction, first cinematic release mtb movie from 1995 filmed by legendary Greg Stump? More of the early Kranked 2,3,4 and I'd also like Pedalfiles, Back in the Saddle, NSX series to see some love. Loving the throwbacks!
Still waiting for Sprung 3, 4 and 5, from Mr Rankins youtube account, give me the films and ill upload them myself. Best video magazine ever they got better and better all the races all the riders and some good behind the scene stuff thrown in.
Brings back fond memories of when I started riding. Real classic. Please pinkbike can we have chainsmoke. The section where Palmer gets dropped in from a helicopter is epic.
This takes me back, mint vid, transcontinental would be a good one to put up, i still have it on VHS but the best one would have to be totally wild, featuring Rob warner when he was on saracen, Dave hemming on MBUK and Scott dommit on SCOTT it was so shit it was good, i still have this on VHS too ;-)
haha where is the 16:9 widescreen ratio?! old skool always has music like this and their bikes with those skinny as tubes look like they are going to break any minute.
pppsssttt I'll let you in a little secret, cell phones didn't have camera's back then... so these vids were pulled from these black plastic box thingies called VHS's and then converted to a digital file and then uploaded to youtube, so there was just a little bit of lost resolution over the past 15 years and all... just to give you a clue...
what about other free vhs tapes that came with MBUK - REAL SICK, MUD COWS, BURNING CALVES?
had a look but couldn't find, do you have a link?
