It has always been a dream of mine to take my bike into the very big alpine mountains and discover some new trails and rideable terrain. One day some of my friends gave me a phone call to pick me up and travel to Italy to exactly do what we had wanted so badly for a long time - to discover the Dolomites and find a way to the very famous "Tre Cime di Lavaredo."

At 4:00 a.m. we started to hike and pedal up the mountain, starting at the small house we had been sleeping in. Getting up early was worth it for sure - we were able to watch the sun rising at 2500m above sea level.

A long way up and several hours of riding and hiking through a mountain dreamland later, we finally arrived, and they looked even better than we ever could imagine: Tre Cime di Lavaredo... they looked like smoke stacks on that day.

Beautiful trails, rough terrain, open rideable freeride sections and a nice group of friends made this small trip perfect.

All in all we ended up riding our bikes for three days at one of the best and most beautiful alpine mountain spots we had ever been to.

The mountains, this is what our bikes were made for.

Sometimes an image says more than a thousand words, so there is nothing more to say. Just a great time!

Great photos!! Unfortunatly the Tre Cime are in National Park and you can't ride into the park. Those pics have been shot on the only trail accessible at the foot of the Tre Cime (pics 4 to Cool by a 4x4 track to the entry of the park , then the trail is forbidden to Mtb even if it more then 1 meter wide :-(

Tre Cime Di Lavaredo are incredible peaks, one of the most iconic on this planet. I saw them only from the plane. but hell. I'd eat a marmot to be able to stand under them one day, with or without the bike. I might give up mountain biking one day to climb such mountains.

The 8th photo, would that be Monte Paterno (or Paternkofel)? If so, I was on that peak last october. Awesome views all around, including the Tre Cime. Awesome report, thanks for sharing!

What tires are they running? I see Maxxis and assume Minions. I live in another part of the Dolomites and the trails look identical.

Are those trails opened up now for bikers?

Unfortunately no - its just short sections of trail linked by roads for the most part that are legal
