Welcome to the West Coast where rain delays are an inevitable part of every event plan. The rider's safety is of the utmost importance to everyone involved and so, due to the weather today, the right choice was made to delay Red Bull Joyride until tomorrow morning at 10:30am PST. For more information on the timings, click here.
Despite the uncertain weather, the Red Bull Joyride had massive turnout, then was then turned away.
Riders dropped in on their practice runs.
Ominous clouds during practice.
The spectators and athletes alike huddled under any structure they could find course-side to try and stay warm.
There was hope that it would blow over quickly, but the view all around us was disheartening.
Making an impression at Colorado Freeride Festival a few weeks back, Italian Torquato Testa was first up to drop in.
It turned out that Torquato Testa was the only rider to get a scored run in before the skies opened up.
And then the rain came. It was relentless.
It will take some time for the course to dry out.
Rain makes for an awkward walk home.
The day ended early and time for some afternoon tea with Mike Hopkins and maybe a few beers.
Hey guys anyone got 2 spare seats from Vancouver to Whistler tomorrow? Our hire car has gone back and me and my bro are desperate to go! We will pay fuel etc. Thanks Ross, please message me if you can help
All booked up unfortunately, so are Greyhound buses and Pacific Coaches don't get there until 11.30! Really am stuck for options and a taxi is $200 each way!
Well it's look like I won't be forking out $350, as we managed to get something sorted late last night, and should hopefully be off to Joyride in the next hour as long as everything works out! Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys, really appreciate it!
Props to the organizers for calling it to keep riders safe. Catch you all at 10:30 tomorrow, with what i can assume is a good bit more space to spectate haha
