If you're willing to save up a little more and wanna go HD, you can get an HV30, or for a little cheaper and not HD you can get a panasonic PV-GS500
or if you're stuck with what you said, which I'm assuming you are, a panasonic PV-GS320 would be decent.

And as to capturing the footage, you do it via firewire cable, some computers come stock with firewire ports, others don't.

Pretty late here but have a question and don't want to start a new thread...
If I didn't want to go through the hassle of buying tapes and whatnot. what would be a good decent camcorder with a hard drive and HD that I could use? Have a JVC everio right now but not sure if that's going to do the trick of making a high quality video.
