I'm gonna guess silicon content. As far as properties I think all 6000 series alloys are similar. This is pulled from distant memory.

Actually the density of the two alloys are vary close (2.70 to 2.72 g/cc), the major difference is the up to 40% increase in tensile strength of the 6069 series alloys, although this depends on which tempering is done.
