I have been looking at the Commencal Meta TR SX 2020 for the past few weeks.
Because the 2021 got released, which one is better? I currently have 3850 and I could get a 2020 Meta TR SX with a better spec than the 2021 Meta TR I know that the 2021 has better geometry but I don't really know for myself so hopefully one of you guys from the forums could help decide for me.
The 2021 doesn't have better geometry, it has different geometry. Both are excellent bikes but despite having the same name they are noticeably different. It's hard to compare the geometry charts directly because the 2021 PB reviewed comes overforked where the 2020 doesn't so it's a bit misleading.
The 2020 is listed with a 66.5 degree head tube angle which is honestly a bit steep, but if you raised the fork by 10mm that'd get you closer to 55.5 degrees which personally is my happy place for an every day rowdy trail bike.
The 2021 is 15mm longer and a full degree slacker at 64.5. Not better just different. Personally I'd want the 2020 with the fork raised to 160mm but there's just as many if not more people who would be excited about the even slacker, even longer 2021 model.
Lets put it this way. If you bought the 2020 and raised the fork by 10mm you wouldn't be disappointed.
Also note that the 2020 models have their geometry stated based on a axle to crown of 541 (a 130mm fork)...which is strange as none of the full builds have less than 140 forks.
