I have a new ripmo with the fox 36 grip 2 and it is harsh as f*ck. I can’t get it to ride well. Seems to only work when going really slow or really fast. Everything in between is horribly harsh. I’m 190lbs and running at 80psi with the recommended settings in hi/lo compression and rebound. Any advice?

I just took my new Ripmo with the grip2 out for the first ride and that fork is like a magic carpet ride. So smooth, so much small bump sensitivity. Crazy good fork.
Look up some YouTube videos on the tuning, start at wide open high and low speed compression and then make adjustments to fit, couple clicks at a time. Fork should not be harsh, if it is still harsh with the compression full open you might need to just call fox.

I get daily feedback on how this helped their Fox 36 feel insanely better. Fox's out-of-the-box settings don't seem to work very well for most riders (myself included).
I found the base recommended pressure to be way off for the 36. I ended up running nearly 20 psi below recommended pressure for bike park riding with two tokens. Pivot bikes have a setup guide for fox suspension which has a very different recommended pressure for your weight.
Oftentimes when my fork starts feeling shitty I need to get the air out of the lowers (between the damper/airspring and the lowers). You can burp the seals or unthread the bottom retaining bolts and pull the lowers up a bit (with the bike upside down, OFC). I like the second option, because you get to re-lube your foam rings as well.
That said, here's what's working for me these days (I'm about 190-195 geared up):
20% sag* (remember- compression damping full open when setting sag). 1 token at 160, 0 token at 170 6 +/- a click from closed LSC 13-15 HSC (from closed), generally more open than they recommend. HSR fully closed or 1/2 from closed* LSR 2-4 from fully open
Best of luck.
*Shock pumps can vary in PSI readings from pump to pump, so I set sag and then remember how much PSI THAT pump said I had- that said, lower than what they recommend on the stanchion. **Vorsprung has a great explanation on how HSR/LSR play together and why he just closes off High speed and uses low speed as much as possible. Feels great for me. https://vorsprungsuspension.com/blogs/news/the-tuesday-tune-ep-21-high-and-low-speed-rebound-adjustment

Thanks for this. Gave me some viable options for my fork. Really helped. I have never come close to bottooming at factory specs. Still not bottoming with less pressure, though not quite as supportive. May end up somewhere in between. Good to know what's possible.
I'm in the exact same situation with same setup. Feels way to stiff. It's beginning to feel better after I lowered the PSI (I find that I always have to run lower than spec on all my forks) by 15 PSI for my weight, and I added three clicks out of HSC, and one click in on HSR.
Didn't want to start a new thread, so I will use this one. Hearing a knocking sound from my fork on fast small hits when compressing by hand. The knocking is during the compression not the rebound. The fork has been ridden for 6,7 months and I have only performed a lower leg service. Should I perform a damper service, is that what is causing the knocking. Here is a video of the sound https://youtu.be/TUWtgVFx4L4

Exact same issue developed today on my 2020 36 Factory. Feels and sounds like headset is loose but it’s coming outta the fork. Most noticeable while climbing, once it dives Into travel the noise is gone.

As an FYI, I sent my 36 in to Fox so they could review for warranty on the knocking sound. They said it was worn out bushing and are replacing them under warranty. I am not super convinced that was the issue but will see when it gets back.

I also sent it to fox and will see what they will do/respond
I was do lower legs service recently and noticed strange thing - in previous FIT4 cartridges I can push cartridge shaft all way down to it`s full stroke by hand very easy. Now, when try to do it on GRIP2 damper, I can push barely it`s half-way by hand (HSC/LSC fully open, HSR/LSR on fastest settings (-) ). Is this so progressive behavior normal? When fork is assembled again, I have to push on steerer tube so hard to achieve almost full travel with all air released.
I'm still learning my 36 as well but for sure I'm another vote for less pressure than Fox recommends.
I took 10% of the air out and it made it a lot plusher (100psi down to 90 psi showing on my pump). Used a bit more travel but didn't bottom with the Compression wide open.
