Sup guys!? Just thought I'd carry over a thread that I started in another forum.

Earlier today I picked up a 2006 Specialized P2 on the cheap, it's seen better days, so I'll be fully restoring it over the next week or two before the season starts at Buckwallow.

So far I've gotten the wheels off, inspected the front hub, cleaned, and repacked it. I will need to order new cones, as they are starting to pit.

Got brake pads out, needs new pads.

The bike is 100% stock as far as I can tell, besides the Kona Jackshit pedals, but the originals were thrown in the deal. The Kona pedals have better nubs, so I will be using those. The rear derailleur has been upgraded, as well as the grips. The brakes are also Hayes Nine.

This evening was all disassembly and inspection. The frame is scratched and shows it's age, but I'm keeping it 100% original, it's not getting painted. Every other component will be getting re-sprayed black or silver.

Lots of cleaning and inspection before parts start getting restored.

Will update this thread daily with any updates.

Is nobody interested in this build?

I've made a lot of progress, and got a lot of new pictures to post.

Got new cones and ball bearings for the hubs, I got a brand new set of brakes front and back.

Forks have been separated and painted, ready for new seals and a rebuild.

Frame is getting clear-coated tonight.

Everything should get assembled this weekend.

Good job looks good. I'm about to start my first restoration project on an old BMX I picked up dirt cheap.

Thanks! It's a working progress.

I hate the method of linking pictures into the thread, I've got a BUNCH in my album.

The paint looks good. What paint are you using

Just your 'average' rattle can paint.

It's all in the prep, and how you spray.

I'm impressed with the finish myself, considering I've got limited climate control, and no real paint booth to spray in.

UPDATE: Pedals ready for paint

Headset ready for paint

various bolt heads ready for paint.

Should be done spraying by midnight tonight, re-assembly tomorrow.

Woah nicest spray painting I've seen! What's your plan on the frame? leave it as is?

Posted: Apr 12, 2013 at 20:14 Quote
Thanks! That really means a lot. I do body work and paint for a living, so even with cheap paint and no good enviornment I do the best with what I got.

The frame is staying as is. There's no way I could re-create the design. It's also 7 years old, from the goldern era of dirt jump bikes. The P series were big in that day, lot of memories for me,

I might shoot a clear coat over it, just to bring back the original depth and shine. It's really sun faded.

Subbed.
I just picked up an '06 last night for $500. Pretty sick bike if you ask me.

Really? aha thats not a bad deal.

This thing has been done for a little while, it took me 6 days to build.

It rides pretty damn good dude, I picked mine up for $300.

Check my profile for my entire album of the rebuild.

Yeah I'm using it for a basic trail bike and some mild FR and Slopestyle.
