Hey Pinkbike!

I have purchased a Canon Rebel T2i 3 months ago and have been filming a lot of skiing with it. Like summer and biking in coming along fast i need to get prepared camera wise.

I have the 18-55 lens right now but i want something that has a wider range, that will be good to shoot with in the woods and something that is good to shoot video with.

I was thinking of a compact telephoto lens like a 55-250 or a 50-200.

What you think?

Not what you mention, compact telephoto, but its worth checking out the Canon 50mm f/1.8, its a great little lens and cheap as chips, and the low f stop helps a lot in low light and for filming. Give it a search on vimeo.

its been awhile and i don't know if you bought a lens but i was in the same shoes as you and i bought the 55-250mm efs lens online i got for €150 and its a great lens for the money the autofocus is a little slow but in vernal the zoom is very nice especialy if your moving up for the kit lens. but if your filming it might be a bit shaky.

wide range tele's are good for scouting but they will stuff the quality of your photo due to the large difference between high and low. 55-250 for sure the crop factor as you do not have an full frame sensor will bring it to a 100mm-450mm? something like that.....
