Accepting Offers Colnago C40 carbon Mapei DA Large

This is a 2001 Colnago in Mapei team colors with C40 lugged carbon frame with B stays and Dura Ace groupset. A similar bike (except the fork) was used by the “Lion of Flanders” Johan Museeuw to win Paris Roubaix in 2000 (photo). The history around these bikes is great. The “40” commemorates Colnago’s 40th year and they are said to be the frames that cemented the use of carbon fiber in frames that were both light enough and strong enough for the rigors of the pro tour. The original fork was lost in a crash crit racing, but was replaced with a nice and similar looking, straight blade Easton EC90 (could be painted and Colnago decals added if you are going for history). The bike was raced a few years and then ridden recreationally until 2010. The size is 58, but ridden by a 6’ 1” tall rider and more similar to a modern 56cm Large.

It is in very good vintage condition. There are some chips in the paint on the chain stay and chain-drop marks behind the chain sets. These have been touched up as seen in the photos. It’s fun to ride, shifts very smoothly and brakes well. I’m not in a rush to sell. The asking price is fair. Looking for someone who will appreciate it and ride it.
