2016 Trek Slash 9.9 Large (19.5")

This is a mixed build. Most of this came from my 2015 Trek Slash 9.8. The drive side chainstay cracked at the weld on the 9.8 and the top tube had a small fracture that was growing slowly. Trek offered a full warranty replacement that included upgrading to 9.9 (full carbon frame) in Fall 2017. This also included a new rear shock with the frame replacement. The original Slash 9.8 had approximately 2600 miles. The new 9.9 frame has only seen 530 miles and no bike park riding. Wear items have been replaced as needed through lifetime of the bike.

--The drivetrain was replaced spring 2017. The new frame rebuild in Fall 2017 included a new press fit BB. The bearings were installed with green Loctite on the bearing OD race to prevent creaking. The old frame never had any issues with creaking and old bearings were still good after 2600 miles.

--The fork and dropper were full rebuilt in the fall of 2017. The fork does need new bushings (lowers) and the dropper also needs a new bushing that was not included in the rebuild kit. Both fork and seatpost were rebuilt with the upgraded seal kit.

--The fork does feel better than my 2018 Pike.

--The wheelset was upgraded winter of 2017. I ran the original Bontrager wheelset prior without issues. I upgraded because I had a few dents and I found a good deal on a take-off set of Bontrager Line Elite wheels. These are actually take off wheels from the 2016 Trek Slash 9.9.

--I have been running EBC red pads. They are the fastest wearing, but this provides more modulation than stock XT pads. You will notice the lever is the M8000. The original developed a leak and the M8000 replaced the M785 lever. The M785 caliper and M8000 lever combination does not have the floating bite point problems of the full M8000 system.

--Pedals not included.

--Saddle and grips have never been used.

--Front tire has less than a handful of rides. It still has the injector “hairs” on the knobs. Rear tire was rotated back from the front and still has plenty of life.

--Handlebars were swapped for wider and higher rise. The stem was swapped from a 60 to a 50 mm. Bars are cut to 780 mm. There is some clear coat damage from the dropper remote spinning on the bar when it was being serviced.

--The Trek logo on the non-drive side lost some paint from tape. Strange, but it is what happened.

--I used my old 9.8 frame to determine where I was going to include Mastic tape. The 9.9 frame is wrapped in all areas where chips and wear have been observed with the old frame.
