Selected by Ian Hylands - a sweet shot for the beginning of 2012, Sam Pilgrim with a tuck no hander in front of a waterfall in Iceland. It doesn't get much better than this!
I spent 4 weeks there during the mid might sun last summer, and stood underneath this waterfall. Ironically nobody in Iceland rides, and I mean nobody. The only place which had some DH trails was in Akureyri, and they got torn down due to being on the ski slopes. There is so, so, so much potential but you can't even hire a bike there. Anyone fancy starting a business over there?
Its true that the scene here is not exactly large, but there are riders here. Unfortunately biking of any variety is low on the food chain, hence lack of specialised trails, but we're working on that. We have a shop in Reykjavik (Kria Cycles) and Emil was actually guiding Sam and Chopper around when they came in November. We do all-mountain trips, all around Iceland, and we also hire Specialized FSR bikes (we are the only people that will hire you a serious AM bike). So, if any of you guys want to come to Iceland, drop us a line - kriacycles.com
The last years there have been abbout 50-60 riders racing the Icelandic dh cup series... And 430 pepole raced the Bluelagoon challenge, easy 60km xc race.
And there is a bikepark just outside of Reykjavík at the Skálafell ski area. They are open 2 - 3 times a wee during the summer and have a good uplift service....
its such b.s. The scale of the rake and "sam pilgrim" dont add up. and if hes getting that much air off a jump that.... you cant even tell if the jump is big or small. its so obviously photoshopped
your first comment is not deleted, but down below all comments in threshold threads...
plus, soon it's all gonna be on video, so stop making a fool out of yourself and don't write anymore idiotic comments!
This is definitely photoshopped.
-the left water fall has water going up over the crest of the hill.
-the grass next to the much water, especially with all of the spray from the falls, would not be brown at all.
- also in the left water fall, the water seems to be falling diagonally. gravity must be different in Iceland.
Mountain rookie. Your first comment makes no sense. Even if it did i can guarantee you would be wrong.
Your second comment, while very hard to understand makes no sense. Sometimes grass close to water is light brown. Live with it bro.
Your third comment shows that you do not know anything about photography in any way. He is using a 16mm wide angle lens at 16mm. No point of me explaining cause you would make up some crap about how canon has screwed up while making the lens or something dumb.
You have no freakin clue what ur talking about.
Stop telling talented artists that their work is crap when you do know anything about their form of art.
