XtremEvents introduces its first teaser of the French Urban DH races which takes place on July the 19th 2015 in Serre Chevalier Vallée – Briançon. We can already announce a list of international tops riders; Slovak Filip Polc, Urban DH’s world leader, Australian National Championship winner, Tracy Hannah, Junior Series Crankworx DH Whistler winner, Remy Morton, the Neethling brothers from South Africa and the freerider, Antoine Bizet.

The riders will go to the top of the castle fortifications (classified on the UNESCO World Heritage Site), will pass into the ditch, then they will weave through the heart of the city with stairs, drops and gaps to finish by a spectacular jump above the main street of this very popular tourist city. This mad race was born from the meeting of the entrepreneurs club of 'Grand Briançonnais' with Xtrem Events and William Renan.

I know I know... just saying in case the cities are still asking themselves why people go ride les deux alpes... And I guess the building crews know that already, but at some point you've got to put some money on the table if you want something big

Makes total sense, hardly any mountains round there.

 tell me that's irony dude,
because indeed they should spend time opening new racetracks and such,
instead of doing "urban" dh and building a new pumptrack,
Same thing for montgenevre, they'd better be opening new tracks on the park instead of working on their bad frenchcup track

They are not the same people... xtrem events organising the urban DH and people taking care of montgenevre or serre chevalier bike park are different !

Totally, I get it's a new 'thing' and exciting to watch, just seems mad to do it there, when as you say the investment could be used to make a new trail. It's surrounded by mountains, lifts and potential.

Still tempting to enter mind you Smile

The Southern French Alps are totally behind, there is massive potential here if anyone were to invest properly. Anyone got any money?

Wish Pra Loup would sort itself out most of all, so close to me yet they don't even bother opening until July, and haven't even got close to having a decent variety of trail.

Exactly that, in southern alps, most resorts remain essentially ski resorts,
they 're developing bikeparks as a summer activity but not quite as they could...

Come on Briançon, give your building crew more guys and money!!
We want massive berms, big tables and technical DH, braaaaap

I went to Montclar yesterday, and it was surprisingly good. Not that many trails but good variety, and good drop, jump, and natural sections. Well worth a visit. Open all weekends from May too.

never been there, but really cool that they open that early.
but arent you supposed to be british?

Recently moved here to get some dry trails in summer and snow in winter. Hadn't yet updated my profile's current location. The scene seems pretty quiet here. I have yet to encounter anyone on any of the trails. There were probably 20 people riding at Montclar. In the UK it would have been rammed with people. Guess there is just a lot more options here.

Nice move! yeah there's definitely a lot of small-sized bike parks in the area
