Win Cam Zink's Custom Painted YT Capra

Cam Zink wants to give back something, so he's raffling off the YT Capra that he competed upon last year. The paint is by Troy Lee Design and includes the famous "Camwiser beer" RockShox Vivid air can. The proceeds go to the newly formed Sensus Rad Trails corporation - a non-profit that will fund trail development. To enter, visit sensusradtrails.com.

YT says that the Capra sells for $4500, but the TLD paint cost at least as much as the bike. It's one of a kind and it could be yours. Own a shreddable piece of history and help build rad trails at the same time.

New Devinci Troy Spotted in Whistler Village

Devinci says that it will be releasing an all new version of its Troy carbon trailbike later this month, but somebody brought one to Whistler a little early. Thanks to a crafty Pinkbike detective, we have a preview photo of what the new Troy looks like. The rear suspension is a simple swingarm with a split pivot dropout. The suspension and front section members have been enlarged and also, the top tube seems to have been lengthened a bit. Paul Aston photo


Single-Crown Öhlins Fork Spotted at the EWS

Swedish Enduro racer Niklas Wallner says that he has been riding this prototype Ohlins single-crown fork all season, first on his Dabomb, and later on a borrowed Specialized Enduro. At a distance it could easily be mistaken for a RockShox Pike, as it shares similar proportions, including what appears to be 35mm stanchion tubes. The crown is sculpted more, however, and its damping cartridge is on the left, not the right side, with both high and low-speed controls on the crown. The axle threads into the left slider and is clamped with a 5mm Allen screw on the right side. Travel is reported to be 160mm and it is apparently air sprung. Paul Aston photo

When asked about the trend towards coil-type shocks for enduro racing, DVO founder Bryson Martin said that the market will probably swing back and forth between air and coil-sprung shocks as the sport evolves. Martin said that DVO is responding with the addition of an affordable titanium spring for its Jade reservoir shock. On another subject, Bryson said that DVO is nearing production on a lightweight dual-crown fork that will be configured with a conventional chassis. The damping system will use a version of the one used in the Diamond single crown fork.

Bryson would not specify whether or not the new fork would use an air or a coil spring, nor would he pin down a release date, but it seems logical for DVO to produce a lighter and less expensive gravity fork as a gateway to introduce a larger audience to its premium suspension offerings.

 I think not being made in America is more representative of American consumer goods than "made in America" currently. Made in Taiwan is as American as apple pie (which is likely also made and packaged in Taiwan).

 it's a tiny bit sad that ohlins is getting well in to the MTB suspension market, while marzocchi may be vanishing, as it would be awesome to seen 2 big motorcycle suspension brands going at it on the downhill or enduro circuit.

 i think ohlins has active dampers, while heavier it'd be nice to see on a bike, and they'll bring much needed innovations to suspension other than electronic lock-outs, and i hope they are OE to brands other than specialized and offer products as aftermarket components.

 @tobiusmaximum - yeah, the vast majority of bikes now are made in Asia. It does suck, but most people won't pay for a quality bike made at Western (US or Western European) maufacturers and paying their wages. No matter what they say about 'bringing jobs' back. The bike in a tongue-in-cheek paint job. So yes..who cares? So are you that upset when Steve Peat paints the Union Jack on his Santa Cruz made in Asia at the World Champs? How about Minaar's Santa Cruz with a South African flag? Atherton's GT's are made in Taiwan, can they have a Union Jack?

Are you that offended it is painted the way it is? If so, I feel bad for that a picture of a bike on a website ruins your day that easily. Cam is great guy, auctioning the bike of for a charity. He isn't proclaiming he or his bike is any better that anyone else?

 Im not shitting myself, just pointing out a slightly ridiculous reality. I'm not patriotic in that sense and you'll often see me throwing the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes on the floor and pissing on both. To me, both flags represent imperialism, mass murder and theft. I have no attachment to the Union Jack beyond the one you attach to me. I was born in England. I'm English. No pride, just the facts. But dare I say that maybe the extra attention the Stars and Stripes creates is because, of late, your governement have done a catalogue of shall we say unsavoury things. It's just your turn, it was the British empire before, so yeah, our flag is no better, just less 'current affairs'. I love the bike, I love the spectacle of the paintjob, i actually love the Stars and Stripes as a design, I think cams wicked.  Guys, tobiusmax just seems to be a miserable dud. It's a paint job on a bike, wow. It appears he hates his country, hates mine, sure he hates most others. Is the US, or the UK, or ANY country perfect? No, of course not. But he just seems the kind of guy who looks for all the negative in a situation judging by his last few posts. Hey, I suppose all his bikes, cars, etc. must be painted a flat black or dull grey to reflect his somber mindset. Hopefully Pinkbike will stop focusing on a fun sport like mountain bike with all it's colors and great personalities from all around the world. After all, mountain biking and all the great riders, no matter where they are from, all represent nothing but negativity. What was Pinkbike thinking for focusing on something fun and healthy like crazy pro bikes riders and the events they attend? Shame on you for not focusing on the world's problems Pinkbike!!

 Learn some history, human history sadly is catalogue of injustice and brutality regardless of ethnicity or timeline. You have time to piss on flags? Time better spent riding or cleaning your bike regardless of national flag. I've been shot and blown up in some nasty neighborhoods of the world, I've also met amazing people in those same neighborhoods I'd also bet you that bike that if you think the US/UK are bad you don't have a word to describe how "bad" many of the people who live there are. They'd literally kill you for having a flashy mtb and kit or for just wanting to have fun on one.

Ironic people getting so bent out of shape and snarky over Cam doing this paint job when he is the same Cam who loaned a Dh rig to a convicted felon lesbian to race Wyndham because her caner suffering GF wanted to see her race. Thats the America I associate w the flag and the the majority of good Americans who love that flag because of actions like Cams....

 For the final time, I like the design of the flag, I like cam zink, I like the capra. I'm not bent out of shape, I'm having a lovely day. But interesting @ov3r1d3 that you mention the good Americans, I agree with you, they're getting a bad ride, and dumb people associate what your governement does with good American people. I love Americans, I wouldn't be so 'bent out of shape' about your governements policies, foreign and domestic, if I didn't.

 Sorry - that was a poorly worded comment- you're right it's not racist- but it is prejudiced. You saying you love or hate a group of people is stupid. It is NOT true that the only negative connotation of saying you love Americans is it implies you don't like other nationalities.... it's the fact you have put Americans into one group. As soon as you find yourself saying, Women are this, old people are that, Americans are this .... blah blah blah - you are making a stereotypical prejudgment. It's irrelevant whether you think they're all good or all terrible. If I was to say I love black people- I would be racist- I would be assuming that all black people are the same when they're obviously not.

 Whether patriotism is a good thing or not is beyond my comprehension of human nature, one component of it though I find very attractive, maybe because I come from a country where so many indulge hating it and wish they were born elsewhere: the expressions of pride of being a citizen of a country, and Hummericans are one of the best in the world with it. Despite all the heavy stuff this brings I still find it impressive. Go America! BTW: THAT air can!

 Please don't get me started... being proud to be born in one place over another is perfectly normal, or at least can be described as being happy for that reason, and painting your bike in "patriotic scheme" is a form of expression of such happyness.  When you're part of a group, whether that be a religion, a race, a nationality or whatever- to go about how your group is the best (Murica Bullshit)- is actually pretty retarded when you think about it. Could someone explain to me the difference in saying 'America is the best country in the world' and saying 'White people are the best people in the world'?? They're both opinions, based in false perception rather than fact- the very existence of these opinions perpetuates hatred and is counter productive when it comes to resolving differences we have.  Nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage, or any other genetic accidents that came your way, eg height, build, intelligence, whatever.

The problems start when you start making unfounded assumptions based on this pride. For example there is nothing wrong with being proud of your hair colour, but assuming you are therefor better (or worse) than a person of a different hair colour is foolish.

However being proud of your nationality is slightly different to being proud of your own features, as you personally have little to do with your countries achievments. I am proud of the UK population for being fairly peaceful and polite, but I don't feel any personal glory because of that.

 I guess the difference is that white is a race..... and America is a country..... Do some people take pride a bit far? Yes.... You can become an American but not a white person..... Do you have a favorite sports team? A favorite mountain biker? Are you a proud parent? Putting a paint scheme on a bike isn't necessarily saying your country is the best....Its more about personal style and having fun I would think.... The funny thing is if you were to ask anyone who knows me Patriotic would not be a word used to describe.....I think I'm just growing tired of the negative spin some folks seem to put on pretty much anything...

Can't we just get back to the good ol' days when everything just looked like a Session? Ha!

Saying "I am proud of being a Catholic" does not need to carry much personal meaning with it, but you will surely get lots of people stick lots of sht on you for saying it, they will make tons of assumptions who you are based on such expression. Then if you say, "I am proud of my government for sanctioning high co2 emissions", "I am proud to be gay" people will clap...brainlessly. Even though it is the same fricking thing and same fricking mechanism in people looking for other people's flaws. "God bless you, cuz I know it annoys you" - Just an expression Big Grin

 I know a girl with very nice hair. She is proud of it. She grew it herself so it could be considered her own achievement. If it all fell out she would certainly feel less proud of her appearance.

England beat Australia in the cricket the other day. I am pleased for them, but don't feel I deserve any reflected glory. Some people do seem to think that england winning the cricket, (or crowding the podiums at dh races) somehow makes them a better person, purely because they come from the same country.

Part of the problem in the US, is that, in a blatant act of Nationalism, many on a certain side of the political spectrum use "lack of patriotism" as an attack against anyone who doesn't agree with their social and political views. "If you don't love Bush/hate Obama, you don't love America!" Of course, if you don't like people disagreeing with you on political arguments, then in fact you're the one who doesn't love America, as democracy, which encourages there being different viewpoints, is a fundamental part of our culture.

 @ov3r1d3 Oh, I'm not going to claim I'm not biased, but this particular affliction isn't really bipartisan: Democrats have their own ways of being scummy, but they don't really use the patriotism shtick.

 @groghunter - You nailed it. I'm American, I served my country overseas. I'm not "proud" to be American, nor am I "patriotic". Am I happy that I was born here? Definitely. There is no flag waiving outside my house. I voted for Obama both times, but would vote for anyone, regardless of party, that I felt would actually improve my country. I love everyone, hate no one. Nationalism/"patriotism" are diseases of the mind; anyone that cannot recognize the flaws of their country is actively contributing to them.

 I am a proud patriot I too served deployed multiple times I wave no flags nor fly any at my house and don't care who does but I am proud of that flag and if you're a good person who does good things you should be proud too, especially if you did good things while that flag was on your right shoulder. Likewise whatever flag you were born under you should feel the same and if I see you where I ride I'm going to come look at your flag painted bike and check out the art work. What I won't do is tell you how one party has it all figured out and the other is so bad while we both know they have close enough to 50/50 caused our current problems. Patriotism is a disease? If you think my love (and most everyone I know) of the good this country has done and still does is a disease I think you lack some critical thinking skills....

 Even since RC rode Fox's Live Valve Equipped Kona I have looked at every other new suspension development and said "meh". Divo Jade... meh. Ohlins fork... meh. When Fox releases Live Valve it will once again dominate the suspension market. I wonder what RockShox is working on for it's rebuttal?

 Jade Shock with SA Racing Spring is all I will say, lighter than most Ti springs and at least half the price, plus they are within 1.5% accuracy of the stated rate.

 Geometry aside I think they went backwards on the aesthetic design. That seat tube gusset and the rocker link are quite crude compared to earlier.

 I don't understand the waay too cramped part, probably because I'm fairly new to this. The Troy (large), when set to the high position so it has the same head tube angle (67.5) as the Norco Sight (large), has 1mm less reach, the same stack and a .9 degree slacker seat tube angle. The top tube is 17mm shorter. Is that where the cramped feeling comes from?

 If they thought that this paint scheme was a serious thing, they could have easily figured that out. They may have known that already and still put it on; because it's for fun and not serious. And with another perspective, Budweiser has a huge presence in this country and in that way it is representative. The bike is German. Maybe we're creating a reason for the paint scheme that doesn't parallel Zink's.

 Unless things have changed since I was in the brewing industry, Budweiser is owned by ImBev, a large consortium that formed from Ambev (Brazil) joined forces Interbrew (Europe).

at the end of the day more people is starting to be more interested in local brews, I wonder if one day revenue of those Big international brewing companies will start to dive.

 Profits at the big breweries have been dropping for some time. They have tried to recoup margins by cheapening up their brewing process (e.g. using late addition high dextrose corn syrup in lieu of a exclusively using malt). In Canada, this started happening at the 2 larger national scale brewers in the early 2000's but they used other adjuncts such as corn meal in their recipes for quite some time already). At the time they were facing increased competition as wine was taking larger percentages of market share. The Japanese also changed their tax structure and apparently they were taxing beer based on the malt content. This drove up beer costs in Japan, further driving the market away from and more towards the coolers and spirits.

I welcome regional and micro beers as they aren't a typical run-of-the-mill beer intended to just appeal to the masses. Unfortunately their QC is sometimes lacking (due to high costs of setting up and running a lab). I still prefer the flavour of almost any micro and regional brewery to one of the big brewing companies beers. The late syrup addition leaves a very dirty, nasty aftertaste IMO.

 totally agree, and it is too bad, drinking from local breweries is a coin toss specially if you are traveling, you could either get an awesome beer or a very bad tasting one. I didn't know about the syrup thing, but it kind of make sense, it happened with coke I think, and some beer brands have started to taste bad to me during the last years.

 I think it's no coin toss to drink from local breweries.. awesome or bad tasting it's the more healthier and better-made beer you can have.

 it depends on the QC of the local brewery, some of them are nasty that it is definitely healthier to drink a corona

 If there's one thing that the beer drinkers of the world can take solace in is the fact that nothing that can live in beer can kill you. The ethanol, acidic pH (approx. 4.0), and hop oils produce an environment that makes beer inhospitable to deadly bacteria.

Poor facility sanitation and lack of QC will definitely leave a bad taste in your mouth though...
