Who used to ride their mountain bikes for hours upon end without a care in the world?

With a big group of friends, tearing around town, over fields, through woods, riding old and new paths, walkways or trails. Adventures, exploring, wilderness and nature. A mountain bike makes these things possible. Nowadays, with the growing number of trail centres and MTB parks worldwide it makes sense to have one bike that can do it all.

The new META Trail V4.2 has a little more travel, front and back with re-worked geometry to fit. It pedals as well as it descends and vice versa.

Many know Rob Warner from downhill mountain biking but over (many) years he has grown with the sport and seen how it has evolved. These days, if you have a passion for mountain biking it’s impossible not to enjoy this old-school sense of discovery and exploration with the new-school trail bikes and facilities which are so readily available. It’s all about fun and who better to represent that in the world of MTB?

Commencal is a company that doesn't belive in industry BS and it shows. Simple aluminium frames, great smart-specs, simple proven geometry and killer deals on just about everything they sell.
  • 16 2
I have to agree on that !!
  • 17 1
couldnt agree more, thats why i just bought one.
  • 10 1
Just got my Meta Am V4 in for that exact reason. Get a well spec bike for much much less then other brands. I want fun capable bike without trading in my kidney and Commencal has all that nailed.
  • 32 1
Even their marketing make sense. I'm confused.
  • 29 1
I agree with almost all of this statement, but I still wish they'd spec a threaded BB. Besides that, I love everything they're doing!

Like many of you,I was considering a Commençal for my future bike. That changed when I read that they're planning to release a E-bike soon.
I don't support brands that sell that crap.
  • 21 5
@nozes: well you will eventually end up with no bike since every single bike company will eventually get into ebikes crap.
  • 11 4
@nozes: I have a similar attitude towards those bikes, but this is how I cope:
If they make an E-bike, then they can attract more customers who otherwise would not get into mountain biking (probably). If they have more money, they can lower their prices even more and/or make better bikes.
Plus, E-bikes can get them photographers everywhere and bring us that juicy content.
So I mean yeah they suck but they don't COMPLETELY suck
  • 21 1
@nozes: Think about if you were 87 years old and still wanted to ride... An electric bike would be dope!
  • 2 0
One short comment but nothing to add or take away. I also admire Commencal.
  • 1 0
well, that's right i love the brand for that but in Chile they are very pricey. for example if it cost $2899 US the sell price here should be $1.902.550 CLP to be the same price... but instead it cost $2.800.000 CLP approximately and that is about $4266 US it's a shame that's not the same for other countrys =(

I was "thissss" close to buying a Commencal when I recently got a new trail bike. I went with another company that build on the same philosophy, alu frames, threaded BB's, etc etc. It's a 140mm bike. After seeing this, it's making me almost wish I waited a few months Frown

Hey Warner, the game is over with all your belly arching. You've been exposed as great rider who can clearly shred. Great edit.
  • 11 1
 Rob Warner for EWS 2017!
  • 27 1
Commencal is rather quite good for the sport, if you look at their business model:

Affordable, well specced bikes built for riders. Win win!
  • 16 0
Pot socks + no knee pads = Thug Life
  • 13 0
Holy crap!! I don't embrace change and thought Warner would be with Giant forever, still what a great company to ride for in Commencal!
  • 15 4
Make an extra long, slack and low version with 470 chainstay and call it METH
  • 1 0
 Why not 420 chainstays?
  • 1 0
@CJ8TH: cuz so 3 years ago and so mainstream now?
  • 11 1
 Those socks! Yessss Warner!!
  • 8 0
Rob Warner rocks! Got to shred 5000' down Top of the World in Whistler together and he was cracking me up and carving it up!! Legend!!
  • 8 0
Oooo the META really looks good in all black!
  • 6 0
Good on ya Rob! Congrats!! I new something was up when you were rolling a v4 in the vds course preview! Brand Ambassador indeed! cheers!
  • 9 1
 I'm shocked he's still alive
  • 4 0
 Nice video!

Warner's the same age as me. I cut my teeth biking in Britain in the early 90s (though now I'm in Colorado). Seeing this reminds me why I love mountain biking. It's not man made trail centers. It's the going out to explore on raw, natural trails. To me that is the trail in mountain biking.
  • 6 0
Must confess... didn't think I'd see the day where I watch a clip of Rob Warner riding... that makes me wanna jump on the bike this instant and go ride! Big up!
  • 3 0
these are cool bikes...I'm 6ft and have an XL in the meta AM, and cos the head tube stays at a moderate length you can get a long reach and stay low....the kit is all good - no replacement required apart form grips.....a trail bike with proper rims and tyres too...none of this puncture prone nobby nic ...a proper all-rounder....!!
  • 6 1
I wonder if the brakes can handle the amount of use that Rob Warner is going to dish out?....
  • 6 0
I think Commencal nailed the ultimate MTB commercial!
  • 2 0
I have the Meta AM V4, which puts my bike square in the middle of the new 4.2 versions of the AM and TR. I think the bike rips, and the price point makes it a great value. If there's any downside to it, it's that EVERYONE AND THEIR FUCKING MOTHERS IN MY AREA IS GETTING THE SAME FUCKING BIKE!!! Get a Santa Cruz assholes!
  • 6 0
 Hell yes
  • 4 0
"**Caution - Some Offensive Language". I would be disappointed if this wasn't the case from Rob Warner!
  • 2 0
Brilliant video Rob, you've clearly still got some style on the bike. Keep the videos coming because you crack me up, best way to cheer up a long day at work.
  • 4 0
 Warner you still f!@#g shred!
  • 2 0
'Trail centres are like all the best bits of mountain biking all condensed into one place'? Is he being serious? Still shreds though. Absolute legend.
  • 2 0
Rob you're awesome! I'm always a bit scared at first when you're about to "show" something but always ends up being very entertaining. Best ending to a Mtn bike vid ever.
  • 3 0
Well put Rob, basically a long time dream come true for all us ol'time riders, amen brother, ride on!
  • 1 0
 do everything bike circa 2006:

cinematography has changed over the years too. all good. all fun!

What's the weight difference between the META TR V4.2 Essential and META AM V4.2 Essential? Is the shorter travel bike significantly lighter?
  • 1 0
According to their site, it's about a pound (.5 kg) difference in weight. The longer travel fork on the AM is the main culprit for the weight difference. I have the Meta AM V4 right now, but if I had this option, I would've gotten the TR V4.2 for the versatility and the slightly lighter weight.

The trees, the trees are coming back !
  • 1 0
Woah that's a lot of bike for two grand. Just bought a used bike for $1700 and thought it was a killer deal, but doesn't have as good a spec as these do.
  • 1 0
Great advert for an eBike during the out takes there Rob....... Cracked me up....not to serious and to the point, it's fun, but fuck it's hard work !
  • 1 1
Isn't the hard work part of the reason it's such good fun? That's what I am always wondering 'bout with them 'lectric folks...
  • 3 2
I don't agree that one bike can do everything. Last time I took my commencal trail bike to a bike park I ended up tacoing both wheels.
  • 3 0
I've been on some pretty harsh terrain on my V4, both in the UK and NZ. Spent Sunday riding DH at Hamsterley ( Danny Hart's local spot, not that I ride it at anywhere approaching his speed) then some of the trails used for the EWS in Innerleithen on Monday. I've had the bike since October and the E13 rims are still true, despite taking a battering. Very happy with Commencal's spec on this model, the bike has been superb.
  • 1 0
Keep thinking in recent winters my hood must act like a sail behind my head slowing me down like an air brake, seeing this I think i'm right
  • 1 0
does anyone know if the meta AM V4.2 will fit coil shocks. They say it will fit any shock.
  • 1 0
commencal all the way. my SX is my fave bike in the shed. glad they bought it back! Rob rides good for an old fart too Smile
  • 2 0
Digging the socks, glad to see I'm not the only one wearing them.
  • 2 0
I got a lime green pair myself!
  • 1 0
The XL is actually XL! I'd probably get one if I hadn't JUST picked up a 2017 Scout (which I love)
  • 2 0
beautiful black bike, amazing picture of S trail
  • 4 2
Looks like a session missing a shock... I'll find the door myself.
  • 2 0
sry Rob but that short is horrible
  • 2 0
Hey Rob, we can see your knees! Cover them up for goodness sakes!
  • 1 0
Hilarious~ Glad to see he got picked up by Commencal to be a sponsor. Just means more good times to come.
  • 2 0
I see Davina wasn't any less fucking aggravating back then
  • 1 0
Nice bikes, great prices but horrible customer service.
  • 1 0
He was on a Trance last week at BPW... Great vid though, and a funny bloke
  • 1 0
about time...been waiting for this model!
  • 1 0
reincarnation of the legendary meta 5.5, fun-est bike i ever had
  • 1 0
I need to grow a beard after that legend show.
  • 7 0
And break out the just for men?
  • 1 0
 It's like riding a bike...
  • 1 0
Like, I, didn't know that already........
  • 4 7
Yeah... The "AM" bike really is a do it all. It does so by compromising, which is perfectly acceptable to all except the dedicated XC sausage.

But there's STILL NOTHING LIKE A LONG LOW SLACK DH RIG! Ludicrous speed through the chunder? Pass me the DH rig.
  • 1 0
All of the yesses. Fave rider, fave manufacturer. Win!!!! Good work Max!
  • 2 2
Honestly couldn't enjoy a bit of that as I was to concerned about Warner's knees and lack of pads thereon.
  • 1 0
They're gonna sell a load of bikes after this...
  • 2 0
 Rob is a living legend!
  • 1 0
nice looking bikes too bad the site is awkward as hell
  • 1 0
The Keith Richards of mountain biking?
  • 1 0
 awesomeness....
  • 2 1
 Yes Rob! Preach ????
  • 1 0
 I really like Rob Warner
  • 4 7
Commencal are sick and all, but I am disappointed in the 2016 Supreme park, 650b wheels vs. 2015 26" is a huge disappointment for me

Would love to own one of the Meta's though
  • 1 0
same....I have a 2013 sl1 and 2013 supreme fr and was so glad when commencal supported all 3 sizes. If it was truly about freedom of choice more companies would do this rather than killing off 26. Only wish they still did a 26 version then I could ride what I like and others could choose what they wanted be it 26, 650b or 29.
  • 1 0
 Smart move. Very cool.
  • 1 1
 and rocking flats to boot!
  • 1 0
 Rob can still rock.
  • 1 0
 What is that song?
