There's nothing more exciting than seeing a rider on the come up. We root for the underdog because we see something special and wish for them to challenge the establishment. Occasionally, we're fortunate enough to see the potential of a true winner in those early years. With so much anticipation surrounding the Morpheus 'Conspiracy' release along with rumors swirling of its representation on the World Cup, Morpheus can now put those rumors to rest.

Morpheus

Two-time Crankworx podium finisher and winner of pro slalom, Dakotah Norton (USA) will be representing the Morpheus Team, riding the 'Conspiracy' on the UCI DH World Cup circuit. Dakotah Norton is the unpolished gem that Morpheus has been searching for since we decided to compete in Downhill racing. We were fortunate enough to speak in depth with Dakotah prior to his media explosion at Crankworx Whistler. Two days later, Dakotah absolutely cleaned up Crankworx with two Pro podiums including a win in the ultra-competitive dual slalom event. After Crankworx, the entire industry had their eyes set on Dakotah -- he is determined to prove his performance was no fluke at all.

Dakotah hadn't touched a mountain bike prior to two years ago - a pretty unbelievable fact considering his world class skill and talent; however, once you dive into the details of his background, everything becomes very clear. With a background based around Motorcross and BMX racing, his high-speed awareness and technical ability make him the perfect "mountain bike natural". While this is true, background and talent can only get you so far when you're set to go against the best in the world. Dakotah' has dedicated himself -- his daily diet and training regimen is something you're more used to seeing from a top level professional athlete. It's certainly an unusual athletic dedication for someone who is finishing an undergraduate degree in business. Starting from humble beginnings, Dakotah has the work ethic, skill and tenacity to be truly elite. Dakotah is the first representative of Morpheus' new International World Cup team. To ensure that Dakotah is prepared mentally, physically and mechanically for each event, team manager Mitch Chubey will be joining him in full support at each World Cup event. Dakotah also receives support from Shimano, Smith, Chromag, Schwalbe, 5.10, Troy Lee Designs, Onyx and Fox.

In anticipation for grooming our riders as previously done in the Slopestyle Arena, Morpheus is also beginning a National DH Development team, initially lead by 19-year-old Dylan Yoder. This will be Dylan's first year in the ProClass following up a very successful 2015. Dylan won both regional series' last year, the Atlantic Eastern States Cup and The Gravity East Series. Dylan is supported by Defiant Racing, Deity, Industry Nine, Maxxis, Honey Stinger, DVO, and Blue Mountain Bike Park.

Now that the programs are in place and the 'Conspiracy' is on track for production release in July, Morpheus is eager to prove our competitiveness. Look out for Dakotah and the 'Conspiracy' at The Sea Otter Classic, as well as Crankworx Whistler, Redbull Hardline and other downhill events across the globe!

Just because not another slowbro mtb video equation... I like seeing something different every once in awhile and someone else's perspective for things while trying something new for a change. Great editing and sound work. Keep it weird, keep it fresh.

I quite liked the editing. Something unique and original. I wouldnt want to watch a full film or even a 5 minute edit that way but for a short snippet I thought it was fun.

Outside of our failure 9 other companies production frames broke during rampage practice and/or competition. The frame failure at rampage was on early prototypes. That particular unit was capable of 5100 nm of TQ of splitting force on head tube before snapping. We have spent hundreds of hours revising the layup since then and our most recent batch or preproduction units scored nearly 7900 nm on the same test. In fact the fork crown snapped before the head tube cracked during our most recent destructive test. We also snapped the head tube of what is considered the "strongest dh frame ever" and it scored 8100 nm of Tq before splitting. Our frame is half the weight at a nearly comparable strength to that unit. It would be an understatement to say they we have no concern regarding the strength of this model as we move toward production

Thank you for doing your job right! I have always wanted someone to make a good name for carbon fiber, I have had enough of carbon bikes just chasing weight and not strenght. Once more, well done!
  • 6 2
@igpogo ever heard of Newton meter? It's SI unit for torque.
  • 1 0
Thanks for providing info! I was curious there are too many rumours in this industry.

Love it when I get neg props for supporting someone. Also, carbon fiber is an amazing material and all non-believers can just suck it. Just because other brands keep to make a bike incredibly light soes not make the material weak, it just ahows how weak the brain activity on ,the manufacturer's

As a filmmaker and a mountain biker I get why pinkbike comments what they do regarding video editing styles. It's a little painful to see that video, not because I don't care for the stylistic choices, but because I can fully understand how/why Pinkbike will react to it. And I know those things are a personal blow to the ego of the filmmaker, someone who tries to put themselves out there with their art and have it potentially rejected... yeah it can be painful. It happens. I can see quite a few efforts here to put together good handheld-style shots and cut it rapidly with the cool sound design stuff, it's clear whoever filmed this wants to make cool shit. Just a word of advice to the filmmaker, continue to make more cool shit, just understand and be aware of the audience it'll be targeted at. Also know handheld is extremely painful when showcasing riding, sometimes people just want to see the guys riding, so it's important to be mindful of that subject. It's totally hit or miss around here, and I think you meant well and wanted to provide a cool way to debut the riders here. Sometimes different styles suit filming different disciplines/subjects more effectively then others. You still did a good job, go grab a pen and paper and start brainstorming your next project. Technical advice, your handheld shots look about as jittery as my a7s shots can look if I don't use a rig. I highly recommend you get a shoulder rig, something with a small weight on the back of the shoulder. You can then achieve that handheld look but it eliminates the nasty micro jitters that you get when you shoot with small DSLR's/mirrorless cameras with lame rolling shutter speeds.

Clearly it was filmed with a GoAmateur and they needed to use a GoPro. Next Question.

The Conspiracy is one of the sickest bikes on the market. Complete bike weighing low 30s for the cost of a Session 9.9 frame...
