The perfect road trip: 2 weeks with 9 buddies from France living an epic trail bike journey, riding the best trails in Washington and British Columbia. Featuring the Transition Bikes folks, Andreas Hestler and Jackson Goldstone.

We've been riding Transition Bikes for 4 seasons, we decided to start the trip in Bellingham, Washington where the Headquarters of the "rider owned bike brand" is located. Here they hosted and guided us around their secret playground... blowing our minds away.

The next step of the pilgrimage was the legendary trails of Vancouver's North Shore. Former Olympian and BC Bike Race owner Andreas Hestler was the perfect guide for an epic triple crown of riding on Cypress, Fromme, and Seymour Mountain classics.

The ultimate road trip brought us to the authenticly wild Vancouver Island: a "must do" for every mountain biker in the world. Having a guide like Martin Ready from Island Mountain Rides was the best way to find dream trails and enjoy the local culture around Forbidden Plateau, Cumberland, Mt Washington and the small paradise that is Hornby Island.

We ended the trip by ripping with the next generation, young mutant rider,Jackson Goldstone. We had 3 amazing days in the heart of Squamish, with a great mix of steep, technical, and flowy trails.

Great vid, but for ya'll planning a trip to Bellingham, please heed my warning: It's just the most horrible place on the planet. It rains 6 inches a month, 132% unemployment, there is no health department checking the quality of our restaurants so dysentery is the norm, everyone has herpes, there's a weird native fungus which grows on mtn bike trails that causes warts and you'll leave here with a 97% of getting gingivitis.

I understand if you'll be changing your vacation plans from this STD cesspool to a charming and uplifting place like New Jersey.

Indeed! Enjoy the turnpike, it's only mudbogs filled with the corpses of dripping wet brown Pow dreams!

Pay no attention to this guy, he was just trapped inside the Horseshoe Café. No wonder he rode out of here with all that...LOL!

I hear there are fury little gnomes that will savagely take advantage of you mentally and physically in the woods of Bellingham. Kind of like hills have eyes almost. Stick to Galbraith and you will be fine.

i was the upvote that got you to 69... just sayin

Same fungus/rain thing happens in Cumberland.... crazy!!!! Just hate it here. See you next spring.

Take note Anthill Films, this is how you make a fun, enjoyable video that doesn't consist of the same slopestyle stuff over and over again.
  • 5 5
... Wait so what's wrong with slopestyle stuff? If a lot of people like it then why stop?

@sosickdude: its tired and not relatable...

You guys need more girls. Get a bus, go rescue them from Portlandia.

Oh man you nailed it! Bellingham is the new Boulder and a total sausagefest.

There are plenty of girls at the college lol... You wont find many single ones on the trails though. If you guys weren't looking there this summer you seriously missed out on booty shorts and yoga pants. Even my wife was like hot damn there is a lot of booty out!

Cool video. However all the skidding and sliding in the corners kinda irks me. If we all roosted every corner the trails in the video would suck.
  • 7 1
i couldn't agree more. Also riding off the trail (e.g. Squamish) and hitting the saplings next to the path really irks me too. Perhaps these guys should do some trail building with SORCA or NSMBA and see what work has gone into building and maintaining the trail and also protecting the environment. We want these trails to stay open and this is a good way to get them closed to mountain biking.

PNW trails are so amazing, so fun, so entertaining.

What's with the gratuitous skids in all the new videos? As a builder and advocate, they make me cringe every time I see them. Even worse in slow-mo. Especially when carving a corner is so damn pretty...

Anyhow, disengaging grumpy old man mode. After spending a week in Bellingham this summer, with a day in Squamish, I would say there may be no better place to be a mountain biker. This video was a great reminder of that...thanks!

I CANNOT say enough good things about this vid. It's everything you want in an MTB stoke session. But answer me this.......why do all these dudes switch to half shells as soon as they switch from dh bike to "enduro"?? I mean.......they're still riding some GNARLY shit. I don't get it. I have a half shell. But I would never wear it if I'm flying at top speed over 30ft gaps even if I DO have to pedal up to them. Can someone enlighten me?

@jmartinbiking: ive been wanting to come to bellingham for awhile, i may have a chance around christmas this year. Ive been looking for someone to give me some advice...are the trails generally rideable around late december?
  • 1 0
@jlukaac: i dont live that far north but where i live the trails are prime as long as you dont ride in too low of a place
the trails are pretty tacky usually but there can be the odd muddy section
so yes they are rideable that late in the year
are you going to galbraith?
  • 2 1
@jlukaac: the trails are rideable all year...the one in this video has been closed by the city(?) though, along with another trail above it and surf n turf for some reason...still rideable haha, just kept an eye out for down trees
  • 1 0
Awesome, thanks! I was planning on checking out galbraith. Looking forward to it

WTF does 'in the Pacific West Coast' mean?
Firstly, you can't be 'in' a coast, you can only be ON one. And once you're ON the 'West Coast'(the traditional American name for the coastline of the Western United States), the only ocean you have in front if you IS the damn Pacific.
Reminds me of Japanese translated to English, by the Japanese
