Sid is one of those guys. You know - the guys you want to hate because they are naturally so good at anything and everything. The guys that make 30 foot drops on trail bikes look easy - Sid is that guy. One of those guys that has a degree, yet works 40-50 hours a week banging nails so he can race World Cups. One of those guys that regularly clocks KOMs after work, in a town full of professional recreationalists who gun for those KOM's all day everyday.

Yup. Sid is THAT guy.

 It's funny you say that though cause I see folk in vids on pink bike riding lovely smooth groomed trails on full DH rigs with full face helmets. When over here we would ride those trails on a 120mm hardtail with a half she'll helmet. Not saying we're awesome or anything but it's just different cultures and what you're used to.

 @HankBizzle Yea, I think that often too. Not all the trail features of course! but in many videos there are full DH bikes on trails we would consider a 'Trail Centre' and hit on hardtails (a bit slower though also lol).

 there are plenty of smooth dh trails that are very fun with a big bike.

 Amazing riding and filming. I have been ripping those trails recently....let me rephrase... I thought I was ripping those trails but apparently I must have skipped the day when they were teaching bike riding!

 I know what you mean. Over here hell would break lose if rocks and roots were removed and the trail was raked smooth. Might explain why the UK are so much better than the rest of the world at downhill racing.

 Should've taken the first chunk of the vid out though. I kept wondering what the big deal was about this rider. The trails were beaut, but, yawn. . . Then he starts dropping off the rock faces. Wow. And that last huck? Are you kidding me.

I was at a DH race recently and overheard one of the big bikes state that "Trailbikes are for fags." At the time I was riding a trailbike, so I thought that the comment was directed at me. I told that guy he was kinda cute...he got real quiet. I took first place on that bike. Smile

If trailbikes are indeed for fags, then being gay never looked so damned cool.

 Value added-penthouse-in and out burger. Then later over to hoods in the woods for the massive air. Love it when a video shows a long link-up. Honesty, in video. People commented on the mellow start, but, that is how many squamton trails ride. Nice warm-up and uphill pedal to the fantastic descents. However, Sid does stuff on trails that I have ridden for years, that I never imagined.

 What bike is he on? That doesn't look like a trail bike to me. Looks AM/Enduro, but I could be wrong and influenced by the size of some of the things he's riding.

Seeing these kind of videos leads me to think: is the RS Pike actually that good and rigid if they are abusing it like this, or is this RS marketing (sponsoring)?

 It is that good. I am riding my Canyon Strive in the Bike Park and everything is possible with it.

 Looking around the net - it seems so! But I do like reliability and this was my main concern with pikes. Hence the reason why I will wait for a year or so before jumping to something at the price of pikes and giving them some harsh treatment. In the meanwhile - X-fusion slant rl2 will be my partner for the next year or so.

 Pikes are out for two years now so I find them well tested. Any they are amazing for its price, I've been banging local park for three times in past month and performance is simply stellar! Would recommend them any day! Also these new Transitions seem to work really really well, should give those guys some credit as well!

 I have to admit that I have not ridden them. Nevertheless, I did have a chance to see them in person and to pump them a bit and I was not that impressed, as it didnt feel plush. Although, these were new, so I assume that they will "wear in". + I have to say that I am not a fan of the black stanchions, Kashima or gold slick ano is my bet.

 I put a Pike on my Reign 2 months ago. The first thing I noticed in the street was my brakes felt way more powerful. Next I noticed how curbs seemed to disappear. When I rode a trail I noticed how much better the bike steered and coped with off camber and ruts. Its that much more rigid than a 32mm fork.

 Well 32 vs 35mm is a big difference and you cannot compare it to a fox 32. The adequate comparison would be against an X-fusion Slant, fox 34 etc. Damper discussions is something else, this mainly depends on preference, although I can say that pre-2014 fox CTD dampers were quite crappy... All that I want to say is that I am super stoked to see the appliance and capabilities of Pike, where I hope that these forks will last.

 I have an XF Metric on an 8" park bike and a Pike on everything else. Pike is in all ways better. It's far more plush and I've never felt any issues with stiffness. The Metric (and other XF forks I've used) are plush initially but seem to have a very steep ramp up at the end stroke. I don't get this on the Pike. I do get to use full travel and never have a harsh bottom out though. Only one bonus to the Metric - those carbon lower guards are pretty dope for rowdy trails Wink

 I think the Pike is really as good as it gets, within it's category. It's the ultimate trail fork. Now, if they'd just update the Lyrik....

 The only difference is - the price of Pike's has dropped signifficantly (at least in the EU), where you can grab a new set for around 550-600 EUR. That is a very good price, where the MRP cost a tad more here in EU (~800).

As Im not that HC on my enduro bike, then I Choose X-fusion slant with some gold slick ano. Half the price and should be the same in 95% of the conditions I ride. For the money left - bought a new fork for my DH sled - BOS. I must say - the plushest fork ever, totally recommended!

 I think the huge drop overshadowed the fact that this was a video to promote the 9point8 dropper. In recognition, that does seem like a sweet post, no doubt he wouldn't have made it without it.

 It's a bit longer drop than a Rockshox dropper post is it not? (sort of the standby for quality and function)

 Sid is the nicest and most humble rider you will ever meet. He puts all his aggression into his riding.....and he can ride any bike and any terrain including double back flips.

 The PH drop is fully within reach. I ride it regularly. Enter slow-mo, big curb drop, mega on the brakes. So...not exactly the way Sid smashes it, but fully there. The run-out is the sketchy part....

 Yes the run out in nice and long but bloody steep.! There is a trail for every level of rider in Squish. Even tripple blacks. So to speak.

 Watched my mate hit that huck for the first time not long ago. As you say the huck was fine but as soon as he landed instead of slowing down as he was expecting he accelerated fast through the second roll that he had even of checked out. One of the scariest things I have seen but he did get away with it.... I posted a video of on trailforks

 Man alive. Great video. Great rider. So jealous of riders in Squamish...I spent a few days riding there and came out a much better rider than when I started. The place is amazing and pushes you to do more and get better.

 So is that a hydraulic post? Not that I hate the reverb but the price is insane and the lever kinda sucks. I'm fine with mine but my GF hates hers because she's not strong enough to press the lever with her thumbs. It would be nice to see an aftermarket hydraulic lever that is compatible with the reverb. If there is one let me know!

 Holy shit that was mind blowing. Some of the lines that look tame in the video are pretty fucking wild, and that huck at the end is absolutely unreal. Can't imagine doing that on a trail bike!

 He double flips. Seriously, at the te a games 2 or 3 years ago he did the best trick comp and almost won by double flipping his hard tail. I've met him a few times and had a couple beers with him and some others around a campfire at one of the downhill races in Ontario. Not only is he crazy good on a bike, but is one of the most chill and nice guys around.

 My question is: does 9point8's sweet looking lever work with a Reverb. If so, consider me sold.

 No, nothing else works with reverb since it is a hydraulic remote. All other droppers use brake cables for the remote.
